Here in Australia (well, where I live anyway!) we get a range of maybe four or five solids only, around November – the same ones are in each store. I had always thought that these were the only solids released.
So, it seems that in the US, different stores receive different solids? Is that right? So I am just wondering how I can order one of the new releases (probably the oriental designs) but to do this I can only contact Neiman Marcus? So where would the other solids be sold. And I gather the Harrods solids are only available from Harrods?
Makes me realise how different things are here – simpler, maybe, but we just dont get the choice here!
Same goes for the display cases – I am finding it really hard to source one here that won't break the bank!LisaMemberMay 13, 2005 at 3:44 amPost count: 2664
Here is what store gets what:
Neiman Marcus get the Asian inspired theme + the GD solids
Saks get the Jay Strongwater solids + the GD solids
Some other stores across the US only get the GD solids
Harrods is the only one with their exclusives and they also get a mix of the others.
The LV Estee Lauder store get the Las Vegas exclusives + all the others eventually
The NY Estee Lauder also eventually will get the LV solids + all the others
From what I understand a solid is exclusive to a store for 6 months and then it moves on and around.Aussie GirlMemberMay 13, 2005 at 3:51 amPost count: 167

Carolyn – you will find David Jones bring in the Neiman Marcus selection of solids & also the general distribution ones. Unfortunately they are a lot dearer but our dollar is now much stronger so it is not too bad. I use to ring the Neiman Marcus store in Dallas & buy them direct but since 9/11 they will not post the solids internationally but on the other hand David Jones now brings them all in – so at least the variety is in Australia. Melbourne normally gets them first (I have been told) & that is in November. So it might be worth a trip or a phone call to D.J's Melbourne, but they do now get them all with the exception of the Jay Strongwater collection & the Harrods collection. Jay Strongwater's are obtainable from the Saks Fifth Ave. stores in the U.S. and Harrods only from Harrods in London. You will need to phone them direct.
Hope I have been of help.

Last I heard the LV store was allowed to ship overseas and they do get the Strongwaters. It's hard to keep up because it does keep changing from store to store.Aussie GirlMemberMay 13, 2005 at 5:10 amPost count: 167
Lisa – I was refering to the solids that we could buy in the stores here. We do not get any Jay Strongwater solids into Australia for sale but have to make a phone call to the U.S. & order them – just as we do to England to order the Harrods ones.

Another thought (sorry I don't know how to insert the quote) Lisa – is it possible for you find out which stores would post internationally now- it would be a fabulous help to know that. Thanks,

What a great excuse to fly to Melbourne for the day and do some shopping! It would be fun if by chance we were there on the same day and had to haggle over the last solid! So I gather from what you are saying the Oriental solids will be at DJ's? Gosh, at $250US they will be so expensive here!
Lisa, thanks for your help about the way the distribution works! We are at a disadvantage here in Oz Land in trying to source these, thank god for ebay though!
Thanks again Ladies!
