Hello Erica, Am wondering where you live in Japan? I expect some of our Collectors know your country and I have spent a short time there too.

You have probably tried the main stores in Akasaka? Am wondering if you would find any Solid Perfumes there?

Meanwhile I have some price lists from London which I can send you (with descriptions of some of the solids) and no doubt you will receive more from other parts of the world!

Great to have you here! As KK said, there are alot of experts on this site who will have many answers for you!

Forgot to mention that there are books by ROSELYN GERSON which you can buy through Amazon, Ebay or other Collectors. They show most of the Solid Perfumes and are a MUST TO HAVE! I have all three books which she has published.

In England our Solid Perfumes are more expensive than the U.S.A. Friends have found really good prices in Europe (even lower prices than in the States).

    Hope this helps!

    Hi KK and Jacqueline,

thanks for your kind messages. I believe you'll help me more.

    Jacqueline,

I live in Tokyo where Akasaka is located, but it seems no Estee Lauder store is there. From EL homepage, I can't even figure out which store is the main in Japan. <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />
And books by ROSELYN GERSON,,,yes, I've got “…Collection: 1967-2001” through Amazon. I love this book! What I wonder is that in this book, she comments that not all the solids are shown here (…I believe). Then, who knows all??

Solids Database here is also helpful to me. I really have respect for it!

Maybe they do not stock these products as the make up there is more for the paler skin. I really do not know. All I do remember is that the main Departmental Stores were in Akasaka and I would imagine, if there is anything to be found, it would only be in these stores actually based where you are.

Will come back to you with further details later. It is really good that you have one of Roselyn's book. Lisa, Ann and our other friends, would be able to direct you to her previous books if you wanted to get hold of them! Nancy here in Scotland might also be able to help there.

    Sandra,

    thanks for your welcome. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

    Jacqueline,

thanks for your help about the stores in Japan. I'll try if I can find out some news anyway.
And about Roselyn's books. I found these 5 books at Amazon. Which one would you recommend? To me, they look very similar beacuse I can only see their covers on the homepage.

1.Ladies' Compacts of the Nineteenth & Twentieth Centuries
2.Vintage & Contemporary Purse Accessories: Identification & Value Guide
3.Vintage Vanity Bags and Purses: An Identification & Value Guide
4.Vintage Ladies Compacts: Identification & Value Guide
5.Vintage & Vogue Ladies' Compacts Identification & Value Guide: Identification & Value Guide (Vintage Ladies Compacts: Identification & Value Guide)

Maybe 1,4 or 5…? Waiting for your help again!

    Welcome Erica,

The number 2 book you have listed is a good book for showing solids other than Estee Lauder.

The number 5 book is a good book for the EL powder compacts if you are interested in them.

    The Estee Lauder Solid Perfume Compcat Collection 1967-2001 is the best book , and our personal favorite (pages 7-10) . <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />

We get a catolog( one page) for the new ones coming out but we usually see them well before we see the catalog at conventions and word of mouth. The photos appear on this web site before also.

Generally the solids come out for Christmas in Sept. And we see them in May.

The “Mothers Day “/ Spring solids come out in Nov.( Bustier) and Jan. ( Lighthouse & boat).

As far as designers- Victoria Co. , Maker of the solids, has several in house desingers and sometimes EL uses special designers for one piece.
    Example- The wedding cake.

Hope this answers some of your questions.

    Hi Erica,
Welcome to the SolidPerfume website. It's great to have a new member. Most of your questions have been answered by other members. The new Estee Lauder solids can be purchased from the following stores:

    Bustier – Saks Fifth Avenue
The Lighthouse and Steamboat – Neiman Marcus

If you click on the yellow tab at the top of the page labeled STORE LOCATIONS you will find names and telephone numbers for these stores.

I live in the United States so I don't know if they ship to Japan. But you can EMail ask them.

    Hope this helps you out.

    Hi Erica!

Hello and Welcome! It's great to have another member, especially from Japan.

I just received my Bustier from Saks and it's really pretty! As other members have already mentioned, call the Telephone Numbers listed on this Web Site and I am sure they can help you out.

I also own 3 books by Roselyn Gerson and they are full of information. My favorite book is the one with the Blue Cover “The Estee Lauder Solid Perfume Compact Collection” 1967 – 2001.

    Good luck,

It's my pleasure that I've met this site.

'A RI GA TOU!!'…means 'thanks' in Japanese.
Please try to pronounce as if you say 'alligator' (sounds similar).
