Prayers and thanks to all our men (mostly mere boys,) and women in uniform…those that have served and those that are now overseas, keeping us safe and out of harm's way.

    God Bless them all! Sandra

This day has significance to me as it was the first day I landed in the US on my first leg of a solo worldwide backpacking year . . . back in 1991 – I was young and it was my first real trip overseas . . . back in the day of no mobile phones, no internet, no email etc.

It was a solemn day and I was in Honolulu. I saw all the little American flags perfectly placed on a whole field of marked memorials of those who served. It was quite overwhelming really ! <img src='style_emoticons//cool.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’cool.gif’ />

I really appreciate the soldiers that are currently serving, the veterans who have served and the incredible sacrifices that our US Military has made to make our country strong.

I also am humbled by the service peoples families that also support our country with their sacrifice of their beloved family soldier.

Thank you for all that you do seen and unseen but not forgotten! Happy Memorial Day!

Let us not forget all the British who have sacrificed themselves for the very same cause. A few other nations come to mind, but the Brits have always “had our backs” and it's not gone unnoticed! So Happy Memorial Day to the British men and women in uniform! We thank you for all you've done and remember those you have lost.

    That's so sweet, Sandra. Now describe your first UNREAL trip overseas. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

<img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> OK, I admit – not the best way to phrase, but I had been to New Zealand prior so it was technically not my first trip overseas (and I know you like to be technically correct on these things . . . I guess I should have used the word “big” instead of “real” . . . tch !! <img src='style_emoticons//ph34r.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ph34r.gif’ />

Michele – You are so right. Thank you for mentioning the British who also have so loyally supported with their own lives, time and families. I forget sometimes how many wonderful friends over the pond have done so much for the nation. Thank you for that touching reminder.

It is really good to remember there is a larger world outside of your own circle. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
