    Thanks Sandra,

    My hubby says I sometimes have a horseshoe up my ……… LOL. But this was hard work. I have been working on getting a local woman to let me have her collection to sell for many years (at least 4) . These are all from her private collection. She worked for EL traveleing from high end store to high end store for special events etc.. She left EL when she got married 5 years ago. Because I was so successful selling the other solids she gave me, and because she just had to clean out a packrat relative's house, she decided it was finally time to let go of them. And guess what???? There are still more to come! All in all almost 100 pieces will be coming my way over the next few weeks. Most of them she only has 1 of. Not like the last batch that she gave me that there were 2 of this 4 of that 6 of another. A few may be duplicates, very few. And there are Powders too! Brigitte is waiting anxiously to hear exactly what I have. May be listing more this evening if not I will get them on in the morning tomorrow. ANyone needing to check my sellers list I use the same ID – pirologists or email me and I will send you a link.

    Thanks again for your kind words,
    Karen

    Uh-huh! Thanks for the update . . . . this is becoming an all too familiar story . . . I can't count how many times I've been told recently that the ladies are selling up their collection because they are getting married, or have just got married and need money . . . . .

    Are all these women keeping their men?

    And what collections are the men 'getting rid of' because they are getting married?

    It's all a very strange concept to me! <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />

    I think this is the collections that attracted the men to the women in the first place.
    When a women is obsess with something, they are attractive. They will be happy and the happiness will be shared with their boyfrined indirectly. Men do not like their woman to be obsessed with them, so having a distraction is good.
    Solid perfume is a unique collection that not many men can find from another woman. So when this woman buy solid perfume, they should constantly get their man invlove and made them the co-collectors.
    Look like the couples in this website, they are very good examples.

    So please do not sell the solids after marriage, you may lose what you have gained from there. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

    <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> Hello Perfumememory, I had to chuckle when I read your post. I think you are pulling our legs? All the women I know do not let their husbands know what they are spending on their collections! Some of mine are hidden away, and I am not going into details either…… <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ /> I personally think they would prefer us not to collect, especially as they are somewhat expensive. No, I think this will make them distracted as opposed to attracted! And becoming obsessed makes us more enticing? Will think about that one! I know I have less money for my beauty treatments and the nip and tuck will have to wait!

    That's Solids for you!

    <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ /> I have to admit that I too sold off one (just one) of many collevtions of things I had when I moved out of my parents home and cohabitated with my now darling husband. He in turn, was adding to his single collection at the same time (more room for him since he too was moving out of parental home!) LOL

    Lucky I found a man that could be easily distracted with shiney objects and who loves many of the same things I do. But I have to admit I feined interest in some of his collections. Even got to the point that I actaully enjoyed one or 2 of his hobbies! (see what can happen?)

    On the other hand, he has denied me NOTHING, if I decide that I want to start collecting expensive items, he sells something so I can afford to purchase it. (Yep he's a keeper!)

    A dear freind once said – “I am only the custodian of the things I have” and another says “Collections? I don't collect anything but rent!”

    I think there may be a misunderstanding. My EL Lady is not selling her things because she got married, she decided to part with them because it was time to let all of you have an opportunity to add missing pieces to your collections! Wasn't that sweet of her?

    She got so excited when I told her that the last batch went around the world (Literally!). It is giving her great joy to know that these will be loved and appreciated by others that share the same interest.

    <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> Well in that case, there is a heart in (some) EL employees after all!! <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

    The grand dame would be pleased. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />

    You have yourself a nice hubby, too . . . . selling his stuff to keep you happier.

    And Jacky – you stop hiding your unmentionables!! <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> Come out of the closet!! <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ />

    Funny thing Husbands, Margaret. Mine also came with a large collection of ..butterflies, etc. etc. LOL Flighty, pretty things! So many different colours. You name it, he had them! I even went around looking in bushes for the larva (yes that is the correct spelling)!

    Perhaps as you got a better price for his cars (mercedes), buses, he could do the same with your solid perfumes!

    Now Pirologist (cannot find the meaning for your name), where are the second lot of your solids?

    pirologists = the wrong spelling
    s/b “pyrologists
    Pyro = meaning FIRE
    Ololgists = the study of
    <img src='style_emoticons//cool.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’cool.gif’ />

    The study of fire or fire making

    in other words I collect Cigarette Lighters LOL!
    (Yes they can be as pretty as perfume solids but they don't smell as nice) <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

    I have also been involved in the Perfume World for the last 10 years. My mother & daughter have small collections.
    I also collect other things Fountain Pens & Watches.

    Thank you Karen for your explanation. I did not think of looking up the word with a Y instead of an I. It has been intriguing me for some time! And why the penny didn't drop with Pyro, I will never know!!!!!!!!!!

    So you are looking for cigarette lighters? Wish you would have told me beforehand, but there again how were you to know. Have come across some amazing specimens at antique fairs, but, as I am not a smoker, they never interested me!

    Well, am hoping to catch a glimpse of the next round of solids! I wish I knew your contact <img src='style_emoticons//rolleyes.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’rolleyes.gif’ />

    Ohhh Jacky,

    I loooove Lighters, but I also know that n the UK they can be quite expensive at the boot sales etc. Have many freinds in the London metro area that are also into lighters and surprise! Perfume. If your at Portabello, seek out these 2 dealers Tom & Brigitte Clarke and or Richard Ball. There are others but these 2 regularily “stall out”, Tom & Brigitte travel the world looking for fine compacts and perfume, along with lighters. I have known them for many years. Richard used to have his own lighter club (he has passed it on) but he too has had an interest in perfume. The four of us have had many a wonderful afternoons (and evenings) talking shop, shopping at Chicago Antique shops, sight seeing, and of course Bar (or pub) hopping.

    Buying lighters for others is like trying to buy solids for others, each one has their own little likes and dislikes. Where as there are few companies that made perfume solids there are literally thousands of lighter manufacturers. The kind of lighters I like are very expensive and need exceptionaly close inspection . But it is so kind of your to mention that you have seen them

    If you do run into Richard, or Tom & Brigitte, please extend to them my warmest hello.
