Hi All-
I'm not an avid collector as I know most of you are (and i'm SO jealous of your collections). The size of my collection pales in comparison to yours. I have about 10 I believe. My very first was a christmas present of the white linen frog from back in the 80's. I love each one dearly and could never imagine parting with them. There are only a few I bought myself, but the rest have been gifts from people who mean so much to me. In fact, when I think about the things in my house I would grab if it was on fire, my vitrine would be one of the things. I never collected these thinking they would increase in value. Even if I found out I had one worth hundreds, it wouldn't matter. With that said, the most appealing part of the solids for me is the whole package- it's having the perfume inside- so the warehouse sale ones just don't appeal to me. I hope those of you who are sad about the value decrease remember why you started collecting these to begin with- because you loved them and they made you smile when you saw them. Is most of your dismay with the warehouse sales that it cheapens or demeans the whole 'collecting' aspect? Every time I see my princess phone (that I fought VERY hard to get on ebay- with perfume and both boxes <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ /> ) i get a big grin on my face. So keep loving your compacts!!! And let them continue to bring you joy.
