I have to admit that I am not happy with the old ones being “upgraded” this year.
Yes, there is a seller who must be selling off a large collection about which they
know anything re values or anything else. Not complaining, I have picked up some
I wanted for a very good price.P.E.ParryMemberJune 1, 2014 at 2:20 pmPost count: 330P.E.ParryMemberMay 25, 2014 at 1:28 pmPost count: 330
The first weekend in May I attended the annual IPBA convention in Pittsburg. Pittsburgh is quite a nice city and not “the steel city” as most think of it. Being a long time “flat lander” from Florida I truly enjoyed the pretty hills. It was a blast as always and such a joy to be with fellow collectors. As usual I fully intended to not go overboard and buy every solid I saw. So much for good intentions. Returned home with 5 MIB ELs and 20 other makers. There were a lot more solids available and more solid collectors than usual. Most of all it was good to among friends who are also addicted to beautiful perfume items. There are so many knowledgeable members and they share their expertise in the various categories. All members are so friendly no one ever feels alone. In addition to viewing all the wonderful displays in the show room and collectors market there was tour to the wondeful Frank LLoyd Wright Falling Waters house in the lovely hills of Pennsylvania and a delightful dinner dance river cruise along the three rivers that meet in Pitssburgh. Such fun and I was fortunate to make three new friends from our table. We made it back from that in time to attend the Pajama Party. Hope to see more members of this site at the convention next year. It makes a great Mini vacation.

Hey All !
It's very quiet here – what's happening with everyone ? Where are you all ? :huh:/>
Things are very warm over here at the moment and probably very cold over there . . .
I'm looking forward to meeting Ann & Ken who will jet in and cruise out of Sydney in about 3 weeks time.
So – what's everyone else up to ???
Well, I never stop collecting, add something every month. Once an addict —-
Just completed the registration for the IPBA convention in Pittsburg being held 1st weekend in May. It is always a blast and most informative.
Am looking forward to visiting the Frank Lloyd Wright Falling Waters house that is on a tour. People tell me Pittsburg is a very interesting city.
Hope to see some of you there.

Bought the Cancer Pink solid that I think is a very good one for the price, also received Ocean Liner (nice!) and latest Dragon Fly with the big blue/green stone. Going to the Florida Flamingos Chapter meeting on Sunday. Hope I find something good to buy there.

Re the Harrods Palaces, make sure they have the plynth which the Palace should rest on (has the Harrods Logo on the front).
The first Palace released had the green stones and also the plynth.
The second Palace which was released had the small green balls as decoration and no Plynth.
Hope this helps anyone purchasing the Harrods Palaces as the first release was much nicer (i.e. limited to 500) than the second release without the Plynth……
Thamks for reminding me of the difference in the two of them. I better make sure which one she wants before buying for her. She saw mine that is the first one issued w/plynth. I told her about the green awnings having different shape on being remade but I didn't know that it didn't have the same base.

It was such a pleasure to have you there. Thanks for providing info to this site about the IPBA. I think you would have to agree that the Florida Flamingos Chapter is a fun, rather flambouant, group of characters. The Vegas convention next May should be great fun. I am so pleased that there are more solid perfume collectors in the association now.

Thanks again everyone…
10 more days in this hard brace… then, I wear a soft collar for 4 weeks and then off to physical therapy… getting there….
Good to hear things are improveing on schedule!
Perhaps you will be well enough to attend the IPBA Fla Flamingos meeting in November as my guest? I would really love that. There is lots more interest in solids in this group than there has been for a long while.
My best wishes for continued improvement.

The convention was a blast. The host chapter was my Florida Flamingos and we are a crazy and fun group. As hosts we were permitted our own exhibit showcase for members to display collections. I was asked to display my Florida themed solids and I managed to arrange 46 ELs on my shelf. They drew loads of interest and questions. Hope it may have sparked some additional interest in solids. There were actually a lot more solid collectors there this year. I decided to sell all my duplicates and powder compacts and misc “stuff” living in my closets so as to make room for more “stuff”. I sold everything I had for sale. Didn't have one MIB solid left. At very reasonable prices they flew away. It was great to meet Jennifer, she is a neat and fun lady. Love her enthusiasm, we had fun together and I'm happy she got to add some good ones to her collection.
One interesting sale was to a man who purchased a beautiful MIB EL powder compact. Said it was a gift for his wife. As he walked away with it he said “you may be interested to know who my wife is – she is Arlene Dahl”. He turned out to be the Key Note Address speaker at the annual meeting. He is Marc Rosen, famous designer of perfume bottles for many of the big perfume houses. In his talk he mentioned how he had met Arlene through the business and that they had been married 28 years. He also mentioned buying the compact for her at the market. We sure kept busy as there were plenty of things to do in addition to drooling over the wonders in the exhibition hall. Even a pajama party with a silent movie and popcorn. There were some outrages get ups. Niw we have to gear up for Vegas next year.P.E.ParryMemberMay 18, 2012 at 5:52 pmPost count: 330P.E.ParryMemberMay 9, 2012 at 6:53 pmPost count: 330
