Have just read an email from Jacky and am devastated that this site may have to close! <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ /> I don't get the chance to get online as often as I want these days and haven't posted for a while but anytime I come back to this site it is like puting on a pair of comfortable slippers <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> Phyllis said it feels like home and that is so true, old friends drop in and chat and bring new friends now and again too. I have met up with people from all over thanks to this site and I am afraid I took the hard work that Lisa and Jack put into this for granted. I do understand that you may need to sell the domain name but I too would be willing to pay an annual fee (even if I were only able to log in twice a year) I had intended going to Alberquerque but with the dollar and the pound these days it proved too expensive.
I hope you can find some way to keep us all together Jack just tell us how we can help and hopefully we can find a way out of this situation.
I will check in more often now as they say “you never know what you've got 'til it's gone”.NancyMemberMay 27, 2008 at 5:53 pmPost count: 515NancyMemberAugust 11, 2007 at 7:48 pmPost count: 515
Hi Woody, I am so sorry to hear this news. You will remember how much fun we all had at the Reston IPBA a few years ago. They were such a lovely couple and made me feel very welcome. They joined in the 'story' you posted on this board about Angela and I fighting over a solid. They were so full of fun and ready for a laugh. He will leave a big void in Phyllis' life.NancyMemberAugust 2, 2007 at 3:09 pmPost count: 515
We flew down to Birmingham last Friday for an antique fair and noticed a few of the dealers were missing. One who was there had photographs of his home showing the water up to the top of his front door. The most awful thing I saw on the news was a lady in Wales who's two cats had drowned as they couldn't get out of her house. She was in tears – and so was I. So sad. Why do the councils insist on building on flood plains!!!!!NancyMemberMay 6, 2007 at 6:09 pmPost count: 515
Hi Lisa and Jack, I'd just like to add my two pennies worth as well. I agree with everything that has been written and agree that, although I joined this site to gain information (and what an informative lot you all are) about solids, I gained so much more than that. There are some really great members here and I am so glad I joined. I don't get a chance to check in as often now as I would like but….. well, one of my favourite shows was Cheers and to me, that was what this site was. People could pop in and friends welcomed them no matter how long they had been away. Thank you both for setting this up. It would be sorely missed if it wasn't around.NancyMemberMay 6, 2007 at 5:58 pmPost count: 515
Thanks Woody, we can always rely on you <img src='style_emoticons//cool.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’cool.gif’ />
I am so sorry I couldn't make it this year but I had committed to work the elections over here at the same time <img src='style_emoticons//ph34r.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ph34r.gif’ /> Turns out I should have been committed – they were a shambles. Oh well, not my fault, I did my best.
Can't wait to see the photos and maybe hear more about the fun you all had.NancyMemberMarch 17, 2007 at 11:32 amPost count: 515NancyMemberFebruary 8, 2007 at 4:45 pmPost count: 515
Well Caroline you don't do things by halves do you. Those pics put my 'disaster' into perspective. The bad weather a few weeks ago downed a tree in our front garden. It just missed my son who had just walked past it but it landed on my daughters car! Luckily, the smaller branches took most of the weight of the trunk off the car so it has some dents, scratches and a broken windscreen but it is driveable (once the windscreen was replaced). It seems so strange not to have it there. I look out of my bedroom window and can see all the wayup the street now. Oh well maybe now I can widen the driveway! It's an ill wind <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> as they say.NancyMemberFebruary 8, 2007 at 4:32 pmPost count: 515
Wish I could get to this but I can't this year. I've never been to Atlanta and was looking forward to it. Still, I met two ladies at work yesterday and they were asking me for information and me being the chatty kind I asked where they were from. They were from Atlanta, so I said I had been intending going there for a convention but now I was 'double booked'. They asked what kind of convention and when I told them one of them said she had just started collecting scent bottles! How about that for a coincidence. I was able to tell them when but couldn't remember where but told them to check the website for information. They are coming back on Sunday so I may look out an old magazine for them and see if I bump into them again. So if any of you meet a local who says she found out about it whilst on holiday in Scotland you know who sent (scent) them.NancyMemberJanuary 23, 2007 at 8:59 pmPost count: 515NancyMemberDecember 31, 2006 at 3:43 pmPost count: 515
New Year has hit Australia and they should be well into their parties. Three hours ago now. We have eight hours to go so I am taking a break from ironing and cleaning.
The champagne is in the fridge chilling and I shall drink to absent friends at the bells. I'll be thinking of you all and wishing you a very happy New Year full of health and happieness.NancyMemberDecember 31, 2006 at 3:38 pmPost count: 515NancyMemberDecember 31, 2006 at 3:31 pmPost count: 515NancyMemberDecember 22, 2006 at 9:50 pmPost count: 515
Hi All, just wanted to say that I love these three solids. The Seahorse and Starfish go really well together and I just love the 'bling' of the Urchin.
Glad you got them too Katita!
Can I take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and a Guid New Year.
Hope Santa is good to you all.
Not sure what's happening. I thought my last post was lost so posted again. Now I have two – oops, sorry. Guess it has been too long since I visited here!
