What a great book! So happy to have a quick reference for all solids from 2002. And the prototypes section is very interesting to see. Congrats Ann!klassicguy1MemberApril 28, 2016 at 2:08 pmPost count: 520
Greetings from Portland! Here at the IPBA Convention. Who all will be here?klassicguy1MemberAugust 13, 2015 at 6:48 pmPost count: 520
Well gang, I stand corrected on the carousel. It is in fact being redone as a “2015” release along with the bird cage (with different colored bird) and the golden bow. I’m very surprised, but obviously no new ideas. Th carousel is identical from what I can tell, but of course price at $495. I will not be buying but enjoy my old one. I have th color brochure inset I’ll try and scan to include.

Hi Ar. I received the info too yesterday with pics of about 10 solids that were being “reproduced”. These were all existing items. Including the carousel. I think this is old stock that’s found and being re marketed. EL would not put the production money into producing just a limited number of pieces. As least, that’s my thought. I’m going to do some research!klassicguy1MemberSeptember 28, 2013 at 11:51 amPost count: 520klassicguy1MemberSeptember 27, 2012 at 4:03 pmPost count: 520
Hi Denise. Interesting info. Do you have a Harrods Charge Card? I order for myself and a few friends and use my own charge card and it can be very challenging, the Rep has to get the Finance Office involved. And they've never offered me Reward Points! UGH! I've been told they don't offer Harrods Charge Cards outside the country, but that was a while ago. Thanks for sharing! I may do this differently next year. 🙂

Thanks Woody !! Good to see you again. 😎
Had forgotten all about the Harrods releases – can anyone post a brochure on the Harrods 'exclusives' this year please ????
Hi Sandra. Good to see you too!
I don't believe there is anything else besides the bear as a “Harrods Exclusive” for the Christmas 2012 Season. I've asked for a brochure and will confirm.

I'll be at convention, haven't missed one yet! It's great to see all my friends. There aren't as many solids and powders as there were in the heyday, but still fun to go and see all the wonderful perfumes and accessories. I'll have a few solids at the Collectors Market on Friday morning. Good prices too! Do not expece to see any in the auction catalog. See you soon!

Hi everyone! I am still around, check in when I can. Life has taken me on some pretty interesting roads these past few years, but I am still alive and kicking:-)
I did see the English Rider, it was not a prototype, but an empty. I am surprised we don't see more of these, probably the limited numbers preclude it from happening. I also saw the 2011 bear, that was really interesting, but when I thought about it, I can see how it happened. I do know that EL discontinued their ops in at least 1 large production facility on the east coast. The whole division was shut down last year and samples/prototypes did get out. A few lucky collectors got those and there were some very special solids. As items are submitted well in advance of production, it doesn't surprise me that a 2011 piece was included. The bear I saw was absolutely legit. The few EL “wanna be's” I have seen are usually bigger and more crude and not marked. Obviously, just my opinion, but I am sure this is the case. I will be really interested to get the update on Harrods 2011 release. I had heard – rumor mill – that there was not going to be a Harrods Bear this year. I hope that is not the case.

Thank you “jeandeamsforever” for giving us the updated scoop on the warehouse sales. For years, Estee has said that these didn't happen. I have adapted my collecting because of the sales, still buying, I will just wait until someone lists the empties for a more reasonable price. It's still fun and I am glad we have this site to share news and stories.

Hi again-Well, if you are seriously interested in going to a sale one of these days, I will offer a couple tickets up to you all. I get them through my employer and have been going to them for about 7 years now. They usually have them every other Saturday, but sometimes through the year, they are every week. I havent quite figured out the rhyme and reason as to when they do this. They do have lots of stuff there besides the compacts. They have all the boxed gift sets of many of the perfumes under the estee lauder umbrella, including Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Clinique, etc… They also have MAC makeup for very cheap. One of the best buys is a grabbag you can buy for $60 when checking out.Its filled with lots of unboxed estee perfumes and makeup You probably get about 6-7 perfumes alone in the bag. They limit you to 2. Its my understaning that the compacts that make it there are ones that are out of date(I think after two years they have to take it off the shelf in the stores and outlets and that is how it ends up there and that is why the dig the perfume out, I think. But not 100% sure. They do limit you to 6 of each the perfume and 6 of the powder. But many people get around this by bringing the whole family and stocking up. The sale is from 8-3:30. There is a limit I think of $500 you can spend during your visit. The powder compact are all sold for either $5-$10. The solids are $10-$20. Ive only ever seen one there for more. It was the circus tent for $30.All the other stuff like the makeup, fragrance and skincare is like 50% off retail. The sale is currently on Long Island, NY, but I hear it will move to PA in the next year or so. They have a warehouse there as well, but they only have sales 2x's a year. I went once but there were no compacts at all, only fragrance. So maybe at that point, I will cure the compact problem.
I do have tickets for this weekend at the NY one and I will be going. I dont have access to the tickets weekly. But I do get them often. Like every other month. You could send me your email and I could let any of you know the next time I get tickets.I usually get it a month or so in advance.Well, bye for now.
