Wow Hello everyone! It's been a while since I last checked in but still a few familiar names!!

I just received my David Jones brochure and they will be selling the 2010 Harrods Bear. I missed out on the last two years but may start collecting them again, it is one of the cheaper solids and no expensive Harrods freight! 😆

Hi MitziMay, Sandra and Jacqueline and everyone else!

The 2001 Harrods bear is called Scott. The Rodney bear is named after Harrods longest serving doorman and he wears a little green vest. Harrods would be the ones to name them as it is originally their line of bears and EL have just recently started reproducing the little cuties as solids!

    -thats my bit for the year! <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />

Thanks for those extra pics, Lisa. I think I have to move down a notch from “love it” to “like it”. I think it's still very nice but I'll have to think about it especially seeing the oriental dragon and other compacts <!–emo&<_<img src='style_emoticons//dry.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’dry.gif’ />

    As you say this is definately one of those “big is not necessarily best” cases ! <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

    Thanks for the reports everyone! <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />

Sounds like a lot of fun was had by all! Maybe one day I will make it! <img src='style_emoticons//rolleyes.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’rolleyes.gif’ /> I would love to meet everyone and see all the solids, not to mention the whole Vegas experience! <img src='style_emoticons//wub.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wub.gif’ />

    <img src='style_emoticons//cool.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’cool.gif’ /> I like the look of the Pink Lady, I think it's lovely. <img src='style_emoticons//wub.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wub.gif’ />

Sounds a bit on the big side though, how does it look next to the Harrods taxi or van does it look in the same scale? <img src='style_emoticons//huh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’huh.gif’ />

I agree with you, Lisa, about the size of the solids, small is good and makes the detail more appealling.

I never get to see a solid in the shop before I buy it and because of the detailed pictures that I see on this site and in the bay (e) I always imagine them to be so much bigger than they actually are. It's always a pleasant surprise when I open the box to see it looking small and dainty in the flesh <img src='style_emoticons//rolleyes.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’rolleyes.gif’ />

Yes not quite “Ivory Panda” territory but interesting nevertheless! <img src='style_emoticons//cool.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’cool.gif’ />

    <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ /> Hello Carolyn,
    Welcome to the board!

I have been collecting solids for a few years now and have bought most of mine from overseas. We are lucky to see any solids in Tassie! <img src='style_emoticons//rolleyes.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’rolleyes.gif’ />

If you have a look in the “Store Locations” tab there are details for a few stores including Harrods that you can ring or email to order solids. The only thing to watch out for is paying customs duty on them when they arrive in the country. <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ /> It's unavoidable with Harrods solids as they mail them by courier unless you know someone who can buy them and mail them to you via normal airmail. Elsewhere it just depends on the $ amount declared on the customs form and the method of postage as to whether your goods are held for ransom! <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

One thing for sure is that this is the best place to find out everything you want to know about solids and meet lots of great people in the bargain!

    I also found Roselyn Gerson's “The Estee Lauder Solid Perfume Compact Collection 1967 – 2001” book a good read! – readily available on eBay <img src='style_emoticons//cool.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’cool.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />

I think the owl would have been nice with another colour enamel in addition to the white, maybe a bit of black or brown. I'm unsure of the rest at this stage.

Don't think there will be any future show stoppers in this lot! <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

    Hmmmm, not sure what to think. <img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ />

I like the Flowering Flacon and at first look I liked the Pampered Pup but looking at it again it looks a bit like a pea on a drum (as the saying goes) the pup almost looks like he's hovering above the seat.<img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> May be better in person or from a different angle. I don't think I'll be getting any.

My purse will be saving for the NM oriental ones. <img src='style_emoticons//cool.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’cool.gif’ />

    <img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ /> EXCELLENT! they are all fantastic! <img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ />

I could probably live without the Elephant but the rest – well! I'd better get saving!

    Thanks for the pics – These are the first “must haves” for a long time! <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//cool.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’cool.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />

Well, my Vegas sign has made it home and I am thrilled with it. It looks fantastic nestled in my “Vegas collection” – can't wait for the next one!
Surely your Lucky Dice will be show up some time soon, Lisa! <img src='style_emoticons//cool.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’cool.gif’ /> Hope so 'cos I reckon they would fit in rather nicely!

I would love to visit Las Vegas and see the sign for real and all the other exciting things on offer. But for now I am content with my sign until my luck comes in! <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />
