I am so happy because I received my Capricorn horoscope solid! I had to have a friend in the UK purchase it for me, she sent it to another friend in Ireland who shipped it to me with some perfume cards she had for me!! The solid had quite a trip and arrived looking beautifully!

Now I have the Taurus, Libra and Capricorn! I have been hunting and hunting for the Saggitarius which is my sign. I also am trying so hard to find either the original horoscope series brochure and/or any ads for this solid series. I think they are so fun! Mind you it's not the Imperial Panda, but these are still a fun hunt for me!

    Happy Hunting to all!!

Hi Butterflies – Was going through some papers and old brochures…found the original “Ad” for the horoscope series. If you are still looking for them, let me know and I'll send the sheet to you. They're all in the Holiday 2004 Collection brochure.

Also, congratulations on your “new” Aliage Compact. It's a keeper, for sure! 🙂

And I finally found the Jukebox! I totally missed most, if not all, of last year's solids…so when I found the Jukebox, was totally in awe of it's attention to detail…and it's significance, at least to me.

I doubt if EL is going to continue manufacturing Solids so I do want to complete the Collection I have started. Possibly pieces that fit in with some of my themes. Like…the OCTOPUS I regrettably sold, but again, to a lovely person who has given it a beautiful home…lots of fishies to keep him company. 🙂

    😎

    Hey I too am after a Jukebox – I think it's a good one too . . . congrats on getting it !

Now, you already know what I think of that octopus Michele . . . but I'm glad he found a nice home! 😛

Congratulations to all! Yesterday I looked in my mailbox and there was the 2008 Cathedral Square MIBB – absolutely breathtaking! The colors and detail are incredible. I am SO excited! I have an “Around the World” scene and the Cathedral Square was placed right in front where it looks spectacular. What fun!

Wow! I look in my mailbox every day and have had no such luck In finding the 2008 Cathedral Square MIBB . . .

However, congratulations on your find. Glad you are over the moon with It. 😀

Michelle! Thank you.. I just found this note! Ack! Can't believe didn't see it until now! (Sorry have been very ill, but doing better again and typing up and catching up like a storm!) I'm sure hoping that you still have the ad!!! And the super news is that I just added my ultimate want for the series a MIB Sagittarius. I wanted that one most as it is my birth sign horoscope. Now I am super duper excited because I only have a few more to find so that i have the whole horoscope series. But I would love to be able to display them all around the ad!! I saw in Gerson's book that there was a music cd given to the employee's and maybe one day someone can help me discover that one too!

So the only other Estee I have added is another few golden oldies… the 1973 Portrait MIB, 1974 Sport Fragrance sadly no box but has label and is full, 1973 Venetian Scroll Perfume Necklace MIB, 1973 Keepsake MIB with original paperwork. I already had one Keepsake, but I love upgrading to the MIB and especially when the original older paperwork is included. So I guess I am also working on the “oldies but goodies” display right now too! LOL!

    Happy hunting to all!

Just returned from several weeks of traveling that included the IPBA convention near Chicago. That event was really good fun with good friends this year. And I was fortunate enough to find the last crystal slipper I needed – the red one. Also acquired the Pices and the Pocket Watch necklace. However, the best thing that happened to me was meeting Margret (Las Vegas Lady) and hubby quite by accident at breakfast the last morning. Wish I had known she was going to be there. Would have looked her up sooner. It was such a pleasure talking with them in person.

Ahhh Phyllis what a nice lady you are…

It was such a surprise to meet you and I only wish we had found one another sooner. The trouble is with these conventions is that you spend most of your time dashing between one event and another, after the four days I was exhausted but enjoyed every minute of it.

We went on to Columbus after the convention to stay with friends for a week, spent most of it going round the Antique shops looking for compacts and perfume bottles….what bargins I found, my case was so full of compacts that they opened it at Chicago Airport I expect they wondered what all the little round metal discs were …. 😆 but in the end we got everything home in one piece.

Perhaps we will meet up again one day, you just never know.

I love hearing about fellow collectors getting to meet. Will either of you be going to next year's IPBA convention here in Jacksonville, FL? I am counting the days. I hope that I will be able to meet some of you there!

The current new additions which aren't solids but are Estee I just received an “Estee Lauder” saleslady gold pin and the more recent “EL” gold pin. Along with some other solids (Max Factor Love Call Whistle MIB, Max Factor Jack in the Box MIB, Max Factor Hypnotique Floral necklace MIB and a few others not Estee but I love all solids so I'm not discriminating!LOL!)

Zooey – I am still anxiously awaiting to hear from you. I still am kicking myself that I didn't read about your horoscope ad before. If anyone else has ads or brochures for solid perfumes (Estee and others) I am always keeping an eye out for them. Let me know as I collect all things solid perfume related.

I am also (very slowly) working on Solid Perfume Collector's Guide book which will document all solid perfumes from Avon to Vanda (and everything in between). The anticipated publishing release date is being pushed into next spring/summer. It is exciting to discover so many of the vintage solid perfumes and to uncover the original names and fragrances of so many solid perfumes. I am looking for any information on many of the vintage Molinard's right now. If you have any very vintage solid perfumes or leads/information, please contact me at butterflies1219@hotmail.com.

Cheers and hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

    Jenn,

When is the IPBA? I'm not far (Tampa). In fact, I will be in Jax next week for a professional meeting. I hope the stingrays have left the beach, 'cause I plan to play hookey from the sessions!

The IPBA convention is slotted for May 2-6, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Riverfront in Downtown Jacksonville, FL. There is some information on the IPBA.com website IPBA. I also see that there is a solid perfume meeting in Manhattan Beach, California! Sigh… that's a little far for me right now.

The beach is fine, no stingrays that I know of. The weather here has been super for the beach. Temps running about 100dgrs most days, so be sure to take water and sunscreen for your hookey day! Let me know if you would like to do lunch, I love meeting fellow solid collectors!

Have fun in the sun! Jenn
