    Hi Everyone…………

Just wanted to tell you how Las Vegas Estee Lauder is going to be doing our
Certificates that we got for buying so many solids this past year.
I bought two solids and wanted to purchase one of them with my $300 certificate.
The item I purchased was $325 plus tax. I thought that they would charge me the
$25 plus tax for the item. I also purchased another solid that day for $225 which I told them to put on my Mastercard. When I received the package from Las Vegas
they had put 1/2 of the certificate on one of the solids and the other 1/2 of the certificate on the other solid and charged my account for the balance of the two solids. Well, I wanted to return the $325 purchase and told them to credit my charge account and leave me with a store credit of $75 against the $225 solid.
I hope you all are following the story and I am explaining it the right way.
Anyway, I just received my new Mastercard bill and no credit was on my bill so I called the store and was told that the manager gave me store credit since the
certificate was cut into two purchases. I told my salesperson to have the manager of the store call me first thing Monday morning and I will tell her that I should have been given full credit on my Mastercard for what was returned and charged $225 against the certificate and with a $75 store credit………..
So members watch out when you use your certificates and make sure they are charging you the correct amount. I also would only buy one item with the certificate just in case you want to return it……………

    Wow, Red Rose,

    That doesn't seem right! <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ /> I can't figure out why they would choose to ring up your purchase that way. <img src='style_emoticons//unsure.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’unsure.gif’ />

    Thanks for making us aware.

I had the same (almost) problem at a different store.

My purchase was under the $300 and wanted to save the balance for the LV sign when it came in but was told you can't hold over a balance on the certificates. They are a use one time only.

After one of my favorite stomp dances it was resovlved and I will get to use the balance on the LV sign but why do we have to jump thru hoops to use these certificates???? Not worth it to me if I have to “play by the rules” LOL. It would be nice nice if we knew the rules before hand.

    Hi again,

Are we supposed to believe that Estee Lauder is going to give us something for nothing !!!!! It seems like they are giving with one hand and taking with the
    other !!!

Remember last year at the solid convention in Las Vegas when the company said they would do something about the sides of the slot machines turning color. Well,
    what have they done ??????

I will post the results of my talk with the manager in Las Vegas on Monday when she returns to work……………….

Very insightful information here as I never heard about the one time use only. That just isn't right! Also, I think the certificates should have a one year expiration date not 6 months.

This seems a strange way to do business. The certificates are given as an incentive for purchasing….and the motto should be “the customer is always right”, esp. when dealing with this. I don't understand the “split”. The certificate should have been used against the more expensive item and you should have been charged the difference, just as you said. I agree with your position and they should absolutely rectify the situation.

Hi Everyone and Happy Valentine's Day…..

I spoke to the manager of the Las Vegas store today and she was very nice about the purchase and problems.
The end result will be that I will return to Pagoda to the store for a full credit and we will then start from the beginning with a $300 credit from the certificate.
At this point I will probably order the Pagoda from Bergdorff's since no tax and no shipping charges.
I will hold my credit until the Las Vegas sign comes into the store….(I think this can be done but they don't have a shipping date as yet…. so they say)
    I am leaving to go on a visit to Florida for 2 weeks and will do this return when I come home. Will let you know what happens then …….. <img src='style_emoticons//rolleyes.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’rolleyes.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//rolleyes.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’rolleyes.gif’ />

Speaking of the gift certificates, I have not received mine yet from the Las Vegas store. Those of you who buy from the Las Vegas store have you received yours??
I may have to call and find out….
    Thanks, Joni

I recieved my gift certificate in September of last year- says it was good for 6 months- My rep in Vegas called me in December and said I needed to use it before the 31st [ end of the year] I told her it was good for 6 months as stated on the certificate- she told me no- before the end of the year- SOMEBODY in Lauderland ought to get their stuff together? <img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ /> Needless to say- I used it instead of loosing it. <img src='style_emoticons//huh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’huh.gif’ />

    Hi Everyone,
From what I understand the stores are going from Jan 1 to June 30 and from June
30 to Dec 31…..Whatever you buy from Jan 1 to the end of June will be on one certificate and must be used within 6 months of date of certificate and whatever amount you spend from July 1 to Dec 31st will be on another certificate……..and again must be used within 6 months of date of certificate…..So we are going to be forced to buy whatever is coming out within that time period <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ /> ……..It seems Estee Lauder wants control over everything !!!!! <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />

Since this post started, I've been frantically trying to find my EL True Rewards Gift Certificate. Thought I'd lost it, but after cleaning out my desk … voila! This is what it says:

Terms: Gift Certificates must be presented to redeem your reward. Reward must be redeemed within nine months of the date of this letter. Entire Reward must be redeemed at time of initial purchase. Any unused portion may not be redeemed for cash or credit. Reward has no cash value and will not be replaced if lost or stolen.

Although this letter clearly states you have 9 months to redeem your reward, in the past it has been 6 months.

This is from Micky's store in Manhasset, New York.
