I have been a member here since 2006 and I still check this site regularly for information, reference and just to see what may be new but each time I come by there is never any activity.
The last activity I see here is from November 2014 and was from Petals saying Happy Thanksgiving and I can’t believe it …. there were zero replies.
What happened here? I rwmember when we almost lost this site and everyone was so upset. Members even offered donations to keep the site going.
I wonder. Is it the facebook, twitter, pintrist or instigram that everyone disappeared to?
I surely hope that it doesn’t take another scare of this site being retired before the members show interest again. This used to be such an interesting place to visit.
Hi petals! I am not sure either what has happened. I see that there are new members joining on the site page. Welcome if you are a new member!! I do think Facebook has stolen some, but not all the thunder. I am still collecting but haven’t done much due to my dad going into hospice end of life care. I am glad to see you my familiar friend!!
I was surprised that no one commented on the 2014 holiday releases. Bridgette where are you! I miss her picture postings. I did see the high heel sandal, unsure of the name, released at saks. I made the mistake of not purchasing it right away and it sold out very quickly! It was super cute!! I hope the ester lauder folks know we are still here and still love the solids as much as ever. I really thought the three presented by Aerin Lauder for breast cancer last year were very wearable and fun for a great cause!
Petals and newbies I will try to pop in with more posts. If you are new be sure to check out past posts on care of your solid perfumes, aging and no they are not really refillable. The info can help you enjoy collecting our beautiful solid perfumes!

Hi Jackie and Jennifer, this is the first time in ages I’ve been here as I sold my collection off for personal reasons. It’s very sad if everyone has stopped using the site, even if I have been guilty of it myself!!! Hope you are keeping well Jackie and sorry to hear about your Dad Jennifer, I’ve been there with my Mum, it’s an awful time. My thoughts are with you x
Hi! This site used to be soooo busy. Posts from all sides of the world several times a day. Sadly when I check in, its the same. There’s very little to respond to unfortunately. I think maybe its because EL doesn’t market the solids very well and hasn’t for a number of years. I can’t remember the last time they called me to tell me about a solid or invited me to a showing. I don’t even see very many on this site or the web anymore. I haven’t seen a catalogue in years and the salesgirls at David Jones and Myer aren’t that interested. Some don’t even know what a solid perfume is, let alone that it is/was a collectible. It’s like the whole solid industry has closed down.
The devaluation of our solids made many of us lose interest and we realised that we were probably wasting our money and there were more important things or better ways of investing our money. EL seemed to lose interest in the product and in its customers. Sadly our interest waned and with it our ability to have information to share with our Solidperfume friends. It is very sad and I do still enjoy dropping by, often just as a guest. I would love to see everyone back here saying “hi”, but I guess life moves on and sadly Lisa’s hard work and website may also one day move on. I will continue to enjoy dropping by every now and then, even if I have no news to contribute. I hope everyone is doing well.
Yes, I have much the same sentiments as Lyndell. 🙁
When EL started selling the solids cheap at those warehouse sales and Ebay got flooded with sellers who didn’t care what they were selling, most people on this site lost interest in collecting, along with the buzz of finding ‘new’ solids.
The knock-on effect came quick – many solid collections were quickly and massively devalued (except those who were lucky enough to have the real limited editions) and no-one bothered to buy them retail anymore since they would probably be available 6 months later at half the price. So EL stopped making as many, and so it continued to dwindle and die off . . .
Such a shame, but it isn’t the only once valued thing that has gone this way.
This world seems to have lost the idea of customer service and feeling for people and replaced it for the love of money. I wonder if there will come a time where the clock winds back and the world starts valuing it’s inhabitants rather than dollars and power.
In reply to the first post, I don’t think the members of this site have necessarily been attracted to other social media. Most of them are not in the generation that forget how to communicate with people person to person.
There’s just not that much to talk about in the way of solids these days. No real excitement anymore. Members came to this site to trade as well, but that was all taken away by vultures via Ebay who have no understanding of the items or the people connected with them – once again, money and profit over friendship and interest.
And now you are disappointed and reckon you expected this site to continue to thrive ? Sorry, I don’t buy it.
I agree with everyone above. As the solids are mass produced and sold at warehouses it is no longer fun to acquire them. Plus, NEIMAN MARCUS IS NOW SELLING A RE-ISSUED CAROUSEL FOR $499!!!! OUCH!!! There goes the value and exclusivity of the original. It may be all about profit for EL, but they lost my business. I used to buy store exclusives but not in the last 5-6 years. I’ll still enjoy the ones I have.

Hello my dear friends,
I just came back to read the latest posts looking to find some interesting discussions about the latest activities on eBay. One of the sellers posted for sale 7 (seven) Imperial Princesses with some other ivory solids and three Christmas Camellias. What do you think? I examine the solids closely and I believe that this is a massive counterfeits… Please look for the eBay item numbers: 231645895424, 231645895891…..
All my best,
Galina
PS: Lisa, Bridgette where are you?
Seems like the same person bought the two item numbers from above . . . can’t seem to find the other 5 . . . they don’t even show up in the sellers completed listings !
Have just been reading a few of the comments. Still not come to grips with my new Windows etc., but will persevere. Great, really great to see some of the lovely names still tapping away. I have yet to check out ebay to see the latest solid offerings………..

Hi All,
I just now found this forum. I sure hope it stays active. I’m new to collecting and ebay seems to be the only place to find the solids. I hope that I get the chance to get to know y’all and learn more about collecting.
