As I sit here in Provincetown, MA on Cape Cod staring out my window at the Bay I was wondering what's your favorite vacation spot? This is mine. I come here twice every year, in Feb and Sept. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! It's really pouring now and it's very windy – the white caps are beautiful to look at as the ocean churns up in the storm. Even in the rain I love this place. The storm is due to blow over by early afternoon today so it won't really impact on my fun. I'll probably spend today in the brand new museum that just opened down the block from me.
Where is your favorite spot? Do you go there often? Inquiring minds want to know.

Have a great week everyone!

Hi Katita
What a lovely question <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
I love the sea too but my all-time favorite place is, to quote Laurel and Hardy “In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia” and no I do not get there as often as I would like <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />Never mind, I can always daydream!
Make every minute count during your stay in Provincetown.

Outside the US, the most entrancing place I have ever been is Australia – especially Tasmania.
Within the US, I LOVE California – not the big cities, but places like Antelope Valley, Big Sur, Laguna Beach, Apple Valley, Mt. Baldy, etc.
Also New Mexico, for its brilliantly colored hummingbirds and big puffy white clouds in turquoise skies… <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
ArGreat topic –
Excluding last year, my husband and I have gone to Las Vegas every year since we were married (5 years). I absolutely love it there. Now with a child (9 months old already now) we need to find more “family friendly” vacation spots <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ /> .
This is a really difficult one for me, it all depends on what type of holiday I am looking for.
I too am a huge fan of Las Vegas – I think it really is the most complete vacation spot ever. Fantastic hotels, gourmet restaurants, every type of entertainment you can imagine and a wonderful climate. I must thank all the worlds gamblers for making this possible – where else in the world can you say in five star luxury for 80 to 100 dollars?
However for a real get away from it all holiday I can highly reccommend the Greek Island of PAXOS. It is very small, only three villages so therefore all you get to do is lounge around looking at the turquoise water and occasionally taking a swim to cool off – bliss.

IN THE EARLY 60s/70s FOR ME IT HAD TO BE IBZIA THIS WAS LONG BEFORE MASS TOURISM SPOILT IT. NO HARD DRUGS AND DRINKING JUST BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE ENJOYING THE HOT SUN. THE FISHING BOATS USED TO FERRY US OVER TO A SMALL ISLAND WHERE YOU COULD SUNBATHE NUDE, AND YES I DID…… <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ /> …….BUT DON'T TELL <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />ANOTHER PLACE AT THAT TIME WAS KASSIOPI ON THE NORTH END OF CORFU, AGAIN AN UNSPOILT FISHING VILLAGE. WE USED TO SIT ON THE ROCKS AND LOOK OVER AT ALBANIA ( AT THAT TIME IT WAS CLOSED OFF ) AND WONDER WHAT SORT OF LIFE THE PEOPLE HAD.
I AM VERY FOND OF THE GREEK ISLANDS AND HAVE VISITED MOST OF THEM, IF YOU LIKE PRETTY AND DRAMATIC THEN SANTORINI IS THE ONE FOR YOU.
THE ONE PLACE THAT I WOULD LIKE TO GO BACK TO IS ISRAEL. I SPENT A VERY SHORT TIME THERE A GOOD FEW YEARS AGO AND THE HISTORY IS INCREDIBLE BUT AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME I WOULD NOT FEEL SAFE DOING A RETURN HOLIDAY……. <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />
ITALY IS ONE OF MY FAV'S. AROUND THE AMALFIE AREA HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES IN THE WORLD FOR SCENERY AND BOY HAVE THE ITALIANS GOT STYLE….. <img src='style_emoticons//cool.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’cool.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//cool.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’cool.gif’ />
THIS YEAR WE ARE GOING BACK TO ITALY STAYING AROUND LAKE GARDA AND I WILL GET ONE OF MY LIFE TIME WISHES…..TO SEE VENICE!!!!!!!!!!MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE………WELL YOU ALL MUST BE ABLE TO GUESS, FOR ME ITS THE MOST EXCITING PLACE IN THE WORLD AND NO PLACE WILL EVER BE IT'S EQUAL……

A really good topic, it will give an insight as to what we are like.
I must admit the first time I went to California, and travelled from Sanfrancisco to San Diego over a four week period, was the best holiday that I have had.Finding places like Solvang where they had a windmill in the main street! Carmel and Monterey, which I loved. I could go on and on forever and I did when I returned to England, and I am sure friends were bored silly by me ranting on about the wonderful State of California.
We also visited Las Vegas, where we saw Frank Sinatra (still in good voice)
Well that was 35 years ago, and we have been back many times since then, visiting various parts of the U.S.A.and we are always made to feel welcome. After reading Margarets message, you are going to love Venice, it doesn't matter where we have stayed in Italy, I always visit Venice.(8 times)at different times of the year.
Getting off the boat and stepping into St Marks Square is something that you will never forget, the architecture will amaze you, the Basilica in St marks Square is like nothing I have ever seen, (you must go inside, and tell me how you felt) it is so moving.
While you are in the Square, have a coffee, it is expensive but listening to all the many string quartets, and watch the people go by, and the gondolas as they bob up and down on the lagoon….see I told you I can go on and on. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />
Take a good pair of walking shoes though, you will need them.
Ian and I are hopefully going to stay in Venice for four days and take in an opera in the amphi-theatre in Verona, it is on our list of “To Do's”So it is California and Venice for me.
HI ELLY….. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />THANKS FOR THE INFO ON VENICE, WE HOPE TO GET AT LEAST TWO DAYS THERE WITH A VIEW TO GOING BACK AGAIN WHEN MY HUSBAND RETIRES NEXT YEAR. I SHALL HAVE THAT COFFEE IN ST MARKS SQUARE AND I DON'T CARE IF IT COSTS ME £10 A CUP <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> JUST TO SIT AND TAKE IT ALL IN WILL BE WORTH IT AS I TOO LIKE ARCHITECTURE….AND THEN TO EXPLORE ALL THE BACK STREETS, BET WE END UP GETTING LOST….BUT THAT WILL BE NOTHING NEW <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />
I SPENT OVER THREE WEEKS IN SAN DIEGO AND LOVED IT…. THATS ANOTHER PLACE ON MY RETURN LIST….I DON'T THINK WE WILL EVER BE AT HOME WHEN HUBBY RETIRES!!!!!!!!!!
My best wishes to you…….Margaret
Hi Margaret, <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
I have said exactly the same when Ian retires.
Another place is Barcelona, although I have been there when I was young, I didn't see it as I do now.
I want to go to the Gaudi museum and see all his works, he was way ahead of his time.
You will fall in love with Venice, I did. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
Are we night owls Margaret? it seems to me the only time I have time to myself lately!!! <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />
Well speaking from a very near experience- I went to Italy for this New Years for 2 weeks- It is stunning- every inch of Italy was a wonder- but the Amalfi Coast was incredible and the Island of Burano was sinful- an Island of lace makers and seafood- Then back to Venice- Italy- I loved Scotland also- but Italy- History- food- awesome people and fun!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Katita,
I love this topic makes me think of all the wonderful times of my life. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> When my husband was in school we lived on the sound in Milford, CT. right on the water. My favorite vacation of all time was the Ocean Beach Club on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Oh that was the VERY BEST!
Well, the very close second is the 25th Wedding Anniversary at the Park Royal in Vancouver, BC. Now that was full of romance <img src='style_emoticons//wub.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wub.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//wub.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wub.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//wub.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wub.gif’ />

so far…………..With small children I don't travel as much as some of you but I do get to Palm Springs once a year for 3 or 4 days. There is just something so calming about the desert. I love reading about you gals that get to travel the world.
Mary
Hello to all of you,
once I liked very much to travel, but it's difficult to say which was the preferred one. I can say India, Israel, Turkey…… where I took a lot of pics!
Now I must content with short near vacations!
I see that several of you are planning to come to Italy. Should you come, pls tell me and I would be glad to meet you.
