So I was wondering what are some of your favorite cosmetics and beauty secrets?

Some thing I could never live without is an eyelash curler and tweezers. With my eyelash curler I warm it first under a hair dryer.

I have to say I do love Estee Lauder cosmetics, I use doublewear foundation and my favorite lipliner is EL chocolate (I only buy the refill, the pencil is not neeeded and it is nice and small) my favorite lipstick color is EL Tigereye or Cafe Late.

Something else I love is Bobbi Browns shimmer brick, it is the best thing ever and can be used as blush, eyeshadow or I love it as an all over highlighter.

I just also recently discovered English Ideas liplast- it is a lipstick sealer and gosh it really works! I also found a foudation primer by the same company EI- it goes on first under the foundation, wow, it makes a difference for some reason.

Right now I am in love again with the new Escada fragrance- Rockin Rio.

So do share everyone! Martha C

Burts Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle CrËme: This is great stuff, cheap and works fast. You just spread it on your cuticles and in about 15 minutes your hands look as if you just had a manicure.

I love perfume, and wear it every day. Recently, Iíve been revisiting the classics like Guerlainís Mitsouko and Vol de Nuit and Cordayís Toujours Moi. If anyone likes Opium, try Opium Fleur de Shanghai, which has a magnolia note in it but is much softer and creamier that the original Opium. Itís a gorgeous scent for the summer.

Hereís a morning wake-me-upper. Keep a bottle of Visine in the refrigerator for those mornings when youíre a sleepy head and your eyes donít want to stay open. Itís cool and refreshing.

    Martha,

I love you Visine idea too, I somehow got addicted to eyedrops so will for sure try it.

Another brand I really love is L'Occitane it is a French line of face and body care. The shea butter soaps is the best and we don't use anything else. They also have a fantastic tin of Shea butter and it is great for dry skin, lips and hair. They also have a great foot creme. I swear by all their products. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

    Wow! Some great tips.
I'll have to put my eye drops in the fridge. I use Opcon-A a little stronger than Visine.
I started using the Renova (an RX from the Dr) last Oct. It's really evened out my skin tone and diminished the spots and some of the lines around the eyes. I use that at night. It hasn't made my skin peely or red. In the day I wear EL future perfect SPF. I use Bobby Brown blush stick and OPI lips and nails.
I couldn't do without my tweezers or wax. LOL! or the Prescriptives camouflage cream from time to time. I try to get a bubble bath at least twice a week. That's like a trip to Paree. <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ /> The weather is so dry I use the Cetaphil line of moisture and soap. They are great. Wonderful on hands and feet and all over. And my fragrance is Beautiful sheer. The fragrances mentioned sound wonderful. All of it sounds great! <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> Sometimes if I curl my hair I use velcro rulers they just stick to each other. I use a little sprits of spray gel at the base of the hair. It looks very lovely <img src='style_emoticons//rolleyes.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’rolleyes.gif’ /> Anyway, that's about all I do.

Something else I love too is Oil of Olay daily facial lathering cleansing cloths, they remove everything including mascara and all in one step. I use Clinique #3 toner cuz I am oily.

Mac also had the best blotting papers for oily skins- they are the best! <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ />

Confession time: I hardly use any make up. For years I've only managed to add some mascara and eyeliner. But I love to buy gorgeous lipsticks from YSL and Dior and the cute little compacts for eyeshadow and so on.. The good thing is I have a lot of MIB cosmetics in my bathroom for decoration purposes but people tend to be a bit surprised that I have that much. Recently I've even gladly gone to work without any makeup at all. However I always splash on some perfume. Right now my favourites are Magnetism and Nu (YSL).

Isn't that a Scandinavian thing though Karin? I don't think Scandinavians wear as much make up as they have such lovely skin.

    Hi Martha C,
Thanks for the tip on BB lemon creme cuticle. It's fabulous! I don't look like a field hand any more. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

Great topic and great advice! I am going to try putting eye drops in the fridge. I could have used it this morning when I was trying to keep my eyes open driving in heavy traffic.

And I plan to purchase the Burt's bees cuticle cream on my way home tonight. I do not get manicures as often as I'd like, so this cream will be a big help to me.

As for my faves, Jo Malone is on the top of my list for fragrances. Right now, I'm wearing Vetyver and I use her bath oil as well. Lime Basil & Mandarin is another favorite scent of mine from the line too.

I have oily skin too, so I use Oil of Olay foaming wash and Estee Lauder Verite toner. And I use blotting sheets from various lines (Chanel, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Mary Kay, and a variety of drugstore brands).

My favorite liquid eyeliner is Stila. It doesn't go on too thick. There's a mascara at the other end of the wand, but I don't use it as much as I do the Estee Lauder Magna Scope mascara. And I love to use Shu Umera's eyelash curler.

Thanks for sharing all of your tips. What a great group of ladies!!

p.s. – I forgot to mention that Almay has come out with a new blush that is fabulous. I believe it is called Naked Skin, or something along those lines. You dab your fingers on a sponge that contains liquid blush and it goes on very evenly and is smooth. Easy to blend. This blush and Nars Sin blush are my faves!

Me too! This was a fantastic discovery for me and don't know how I ever survived without blotting papers. I have found MAC to be the best because they are such big sheets <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />

    Lisa,

I am definitely going to check out the MAC blotting sheets. There are some days I am covered in oil (especially in the summertime) where I could use a sheet that will cover my entire face!

    Thanks, Jeanette

I need all the help I can get in the beauty department. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> Also, I'm very cheap! I spend less than $50 per year on makeup/beauty items.

I'm oily all the time, so I rarely wear makeup. Plus, Houston is as humid as Florida. Concealer melts and gets in my eyes. Forget about eyeshadow! I like it but it doesn't stay on more than 15 mins! Not even the good stuff. Feels like a loosing battle. Just as well, I'm not a big makeup fan anyhow.

My favorite brand is Yves Rocher. Good quality products at Wal-mart prices. Not to mention, they give free gifts. I haven't bought any makeup from them. However, the skin care products are wonderful. I get unusually dry during the winter and their night creme replenishes my skin. Also, I bought other misc items like deoderant and chap stick. They sell tins of perfume solids too. Not nearly as elaborate as EL.

About the only makeup I can't live without is lipstick and nail polish. I have enough GWP Lauder lipstick to last many years. I use them frequently…even the colors I wouldn't have chosen. I leave my finger nails alone 99% of the time, but like to paint my toes frequently. OPI manufactures nice colors. Get them cheap off ebay. Never had a manicure even once during my whole life. <img src='style_emoticons//ph34r.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ph34r.gif’ />

    Hi Greyhound,
    You need to treat yourself to a manicure. You'll love it <img src='style_emoticons//wub.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wub.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//wub.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wub.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//wub.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wub.gif’ />
I'm big on getting the manicure~pedicure. I just looked down at my nails and I need one NOW!
I love to go bare foot and work in the garden so it helps to keep me from lookin' like a field hand.
