There is a warehouse sale Sat. MicheleMemberAugust 21, 2004 at 3:25 pmPost count: 874
Am not really sure Estee Lauder has had enough time to “cancel” the selling of compacts and solids, at least for this warehouse sale. But what else do they sell there? Makeup? Perfumes? Anyone know?
Ann – I think your next battle will be with Victoria & Co. Remember, they manufacture for Estee Lauder, Jay Strongwater, I believe Judith Leiber, and a company called Andy and Ani…more Swarovski items…and heaven only knows who else. (Providence, Rhode Island must have a HUGE warehouse just chock full of Swarovski Crystals!) It's obvious they have some sort of employee sale from what we've been seeing on eBay…those bad solids did not come from Estee's warehouse sale, I'm sure.
You all did a fine job all the way around, and Estee Lauder was very gracious to follow up with a positive email, especially after all the “Cry's For Help.” (Excellent definition of an otherwise negative topic. Why didn't I think of that?) <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> Obviously there was a large gathering of minds after the conference call, and the right people were at the same meeting, on the same wave length. Am especially happy to see them addressing the Strongwater problem! <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />
Will be very interested to see the outcome of this dilemma…. <img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ />klassicguy1MemberAugust 21, 2004 at 3:48 pmPost count: 520
I agree with Michele.. I would be surprised if the change could be made so quickly. Maybe we will be surprised, but the good thing is it will happen sometime soon! I would love to see the surprised looks of all those buyers when they show up and….What's this?? No compacts or solids for sale??? Would be humorous, don't ya think? <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />MicheleMemberAugust 21, 2004 at 3:56 pmPost count: 874
Even more humorous if we knew they just bought new SUV's with 5 years of payments to cart home all those non-existent compacts & solids they were planning on selling…to pay for the SUV! <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />LisaMemberAugust 22, 2004 at 3:03 pmPost count: 2664
I am really hoping for the best. It would really be the best thing for collectors and EL as well.
I hope this policy is for the rest of the world as well, not the US. I think we will have to find out about that as well.BrigitteMemberAugust 22, 2004 at 7:32 pmPost count: 383
I've never heard about warehouse sales here in Switzerland or in Germany.
Don't think there are any.

I know there are also warehouse sales in Australia, Canada and I think Japan.PetalsMemberAugust 22, 2004 at 8:26 pmPost count: 2373
I have never heard of Warehouse Sales here in the U.k. either.
Would be nice if EL gave some of us Collectors in Europe and UK some added incentives. Considering we pay double for everything, I don't think it would be a bad idea! <img src='style_emoticons//rolleyes.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’rolleyes.gif’ />ArMemberAugust 24, 2004 at 3:41 pmPost count: 502
I didn't know there were warehouse sales until recently. Who gets the announcements, where are they held, and who can go to them?

Thanks for the info. This is infuriating… I always thought there was a limited run of the exclusive solids because Saks, Neimans, etc. sell out quickly, and only receive 1-2 shipments (so they say). I can understand EL's desire to sell as many as possible to increase income – which of course is not conducive to collectors — but why would they dump them at a warehouse sale?
I collect because 1) I enjoy looking at them on my dressing table every morning and 2) I hope I can re-sell them for more some day IF I ever need the money. As with most collectibles, one always hopes the value will go up and in the meantime, the collector gets to enjoy them. You can't “enjoy” a stock certificate!
