It was about Thanksgiving time when Thomas entered the lives of Rodney, William and Giles.

They were SO pleased to have him – the youngest of the Harrods family. They remembered last Christmas when they had all had such good fun with Uncle Bob and Lola that they thought they would do something special for Thomas.

But what?

Rodney, William and Giles got their heads together and mashed out a few ideas.

“We could take him to the fun park on that big rollercoaster!” said Giles eagerly.

“Yeah and what about we take him on that Steamboat down the river too!” shouted Giles.

Being the eldest, Rodney was the decision maker. They looked to him in expectation.

Rodney folded his arms. “Well, we've been working hard all year, so let's do all that by taking him on an adventure across the States and back into our birthplace – ENGLAND!”

“YAY!!!” shouted all the boys together – it had been a long time since they left London for Washington. They sat down to devise a plan to visit the places where all the solids were held. They wrote a list of all the solids to visit and get pictures with . . . . [Ann & Ken, KK, Don and Margaret, Martha etc,etc, are you ready with your cameras?]

The whole trip would take about a month to complete.

Firstly they would head locally to Seattle where the Chinese Junk was in and then head south to San Fransico to see the Trolley.

Rodney placed the call to Switzerland and got Uncle Bob on the second ring. Rodney politely asked Uncle Bob if he would pleeeeeez send his jet from Switzerland to Seattle to pick up he and his brothers and fly them to England.

There was a very long, pregnant pause. “Son, do you have any idea what the cost of jet fuel is these days?”

Rodney replied, “No, Sir.”

Uncle Bob continued, “I didn't think so. It's time you young fellers learned the value of a euro, er … a dollar, I mean.” Uh oh, Rodney thought to himself, here comes the lecture.

“Why, when I was your age …” Uncle Bob started, but Rodney interrupted him. “Uncle Bob! Can you hear me? Uncle Bob! I guess my cell phone is out of range. Bye, Uncle Bob. Tell Aunt Lola hello!”

Whew, Rodney breathed a sigh of relief as he turned off his cell phone. He was sure glad he thought of the old celll phone out of range ploy, so he wouldn't have to listen to Uncle Bob's lecture on money.

Well, Rodney thought, he and his brothers would have to make alternate plans to get to England. I wonder if the Stagecoach is still running between here and Cheyenne, Rodney smiled to himself. Now that would be an adventure!

A few hours later, the phone rang at the Harrods house. It was Uncle Bob. “oh-oh!” thought Rodney at first.

“Howdy boys, Uncle Bob here” the voice drawled in a voice similar to that of our Texan Don. “Aunt Lola and I had a chat about your trip and thought that it was a good idea, even though initially I balked at the cost of flying you all to England”. Rodney rolled his eyes thinking another lecture was coming.
“However”, Bob continued “thinking about it got us mighty interested and we thought that we could join you and do some of the trip with you if that's OK with you boys”

“OK!?! – that's WONDERFUL NEWS, UNCLE BOB!” shouted Rodney!! “Are you coming to Seattle?”

“No Rodney, we aren't gonna get to Seattle – we're taking the jet to Vegas, so if you boys could meet us there in a week, we'll see you there. I'll wire some money to you to get you on your way. Take care now, and I'll be seeing you soon.”

Rodney was pleased as he put the phone down . . . . (that's the princess phone by the way). He thought quickly, after 'Frisco, they could go down to LA and through the Wild West towards Nevada. There were sure to be plenty of solids to see!!

As the boys were discussing their route, Thomas wondered in rubbing his eyes to see what all the commotion was about.

“What's happening?” he asked. “Shhh…..” said Rodney to the others. “We're just planning a surprise for you Thomas, since it's your first Christmas for us!”

Rodney shooed him out of the room and back to bed while the boys continued outlining their map and looking at the GLOBE to see how far away England was.

“When are we leaving?” asked William

“In two days time” replied Rodney.

“Better start packing then” said Giles, whistling on the way to his room.

Two days later the boys headed off to the wharf at Seattle. There were some fish markets there, and the boys were able to look at the angel fish , affectionate fish, and various varieties of Tropical Fish.

As their left the shore on the Chinese Junk headed for San Franciso, they saw a Nesting Duck, and Turtles about enjoying the cooler climate.

Thomas was becoming inceasingly fidgety.

As the Junk sailed around the coast to San Franciso, it anchored just off shore so Rodney and the boys could do some scuba diving. Whilst underwater, they showed Thomas the Treasure Chest, Mermaid, Octopus and Dolphin.

Thomas was thrilled, but soon wanted to be back on shore hugging his bear.

The Chinese Junk sailed into San Francisco Bay and dropped the four Bears off at Fisherman's Wharf. The odor of fish was overwhelming, and the Bears had to cover their snouts with their paws. As they made their way through the heaps of fish, they saw a magnificent blue Marlin that had just been caught. William, the sensitive one, had to turn his head. They soon came upon a heap of Snails. Thomas said, “Ugh, who would want to eat a snail?” Rodney smiled to himself as he thought he would soon have to introduce Thomas to one of San Francisco's little delicacies.

'Here she comes,” Rodney announced, and grabbed Thomas' hand as they boarded the San Francisco Trolley for their tour of the city on the bay.

All four brothers were quite tired from their day of fishing as they were not used to the Ocean Air. Thomas felt a bit queasy as it was his first time on a fishing boat and he really didn't like the fishy smells to BOOT.

So back on the Trolley they went, and decided to go to their Hotel for a little nap.

When they opened their hotel room, there was someone sleeping in one of their beds!! “Oh no” they groaned in unison, thinking that the stories they heard about the States may be true…….

And lo and behold, they noticed a Magic Slipper next to the bed…..

Rodney became very angry and didn't know what to do next….

All of a sudden, the figure under the bed disappeared and Rodney, William, Giles, and Thomas had to blink twice. Did they really see this figure or was it their imagination running wild because they were tired… <img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ />

But the figure reappeared again and it was a Genie with a Magic Lantern!

Rodney's anger turned into admiration for this beautiful girl but he didn't want to say anything to her in front of his brothers.

But Thomas being the youngest blurted out “Wow, you are a beautiful site!” “Do you want to sleep in my bed with me?”

Well Rodney was quite embarrassed at Thomas's bold words and walked out of the hotel room, holding his temper.

William and Giles noticed a Magic Lantern in the corner of the Room!!

As Thomas was still looking for the Genie that disappeared, William and Giles decided to take the Magic Lantern and dispose of it so the Genie would not come back.

They almost had the urge to rub that Magic Lantern, but resisted on Thomas's behalf.

So out they went to the Laundry Room in the Hotel and dumped the Lantern in one of the Bins.

When they returned to their Room, Thomas was gone! Oh no!
