Hey Lisa – I'm getting excited myself! I'd love to meet for a drink Friday. This is my first convention and my first time in LV. I still can't believe I'm going. The worst part is packing! It's such a short trip and I have so many shoes! Our best hint for Vegas is VALET PARKING. You can use the valet parking at any hotel for $1 or $2 and save yourselves a ton of walking. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> (We ask a valet parker if $1 was enough and he said “I made $70,000 last year”). <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />

I wish I can go to Vegas and meet everyone. I'd like to visit the outlet mall. Haven't gone to any of the conventions yet. I'm kind of scare to. I get highly anxious talking to new people and fear being ignored etc.

The main reason is that I can't afford a trip right now. My husband and I are planning to buy a house this year. Plus, I could use the extra $ for furniture. I have BIG decorating plans. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> I'm so excited that I'll probably post before and after pictures of certain rooms. I've been talking for years, but I need to finally buy a curio cabinet for solids, powder compacts, perfume bottles, + Czech crystal. I'll probably go with a huge one (or 2) since we will have space.

I really intended to come this year but like Greyhound I am kind of scared. Not only meeting so many new people but also trying to talk English with them. I prefer writing any time <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> I also soon calculated how many solids I could buy for the plane ticket cost and came to the obvious conclusion that it was better to stay here and shop instead <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ /> My plan now is to come next year, no matter how scared I am I would really like to meet everyone and talk about solids and compacts and compare shoes. Yes, I too take this with perfect shoes very serious.

I've already tried on all my summer sandals – I've only decided on one pair so far.

About being afraid – DON'T BE! We talk about solids, makeup, houses, corporate politics, family, friends, places…etc…on this site – in a very real way I feel the people here ARE MY FRIENDS AND THAT MEANS YOU TOO! I met KK in NYC when she came East and it was WONDERFUL. So much fun to see in person the person I had been posting with. I bet it will be a blast. Let's face it, no one on this site thinks we're crazy for collecting. I'm sure there will be friendly fun and love in the room. So next year, don't be scared and come see us. I'm planning on going to next years convention also. I hope to meet all you fraidy-cats there!

Meeting for a drink sounds like a fine idea. Maybe we could confiscate a corner of the cocktail lounge. (The Boardwalk must have a lounge. Just don't remember seeing one last year). Bet there will be more who wiil join the group when we talk to them at the dinner.

I know how you are feeling Greyhound and Karin, when you say you would find it scary!

I was feeling quite apprehensive at attending the Saturday Open Day in Orlando, 2002. Needless to say, everyone was so friendly including Woody, Angela, Ann, Lisa and Jack, Ron, Nancy and KK. I expect I have missed out a few names here! Apologies! It was sooooooo busy, and there was so much to see that there was no time to feel intimidated after taking the first initial step! When I went to the U.K. Chapter meeting I thought I wouldn't know a soul, but as it happened, I had met June Victor previously and she and everyone else made me feel really at home! Nancy will vouch for that! <!–emo&<_<img src='style_emoticons//dry.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’dry.gif’ />

So, what I am trying to say to you, in a much laboured way, is take the bull by the horns, as being on your own is no reason to miss out on so much which you can really enjoy and learn from. As for members meeting up for drinks afterwards, I think that is a wonderful idea. Go for it!

I really wish I could attend the Las Vegas Convention this year. Unfortunately, it is not possible, but Margaret and I are still trying to catch up with Martha if we can possibly do so!

I really wish that I was going….Vegas is only a few hours from me by car…but ALAS…my husband's high school varisity basketball team will be in Vegas for 4 days in mid July for a major national-level tournament…so that's when I get to go to Vegas.

Perhaps it's for the best because I am in the midst of planning a master bedroom and master bath remodel and all I see is $$$$$$$$$$$! Of course, the 1st Harrod's bear solid had to be bought. (regardless <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ /> ) but what I am spending on this solid compared to the bids I've been given for remodeling (and I'm the general contractor on this job) is like throwing a beach chair off the Titanic. <img src='style_emoticons//rolleyes.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’rolleyes.gif’ />

Am bummed that I won't be able to meet the BBers in person, though.

I'm going to look at faucets on the internet to see if I can save some money on the ones I have selected. I keep scaling down this project and I think that I can live with what the plans are. I really want to treat myself to some lovely faucets…tired of the generic Home Depot stuff. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> I have a roman tub for which I want a waterfall faucet and by golly…I will have it. <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ />
