A friend sent me this link to a teddy bear powder compact on ebay. I do not collect the powder compacts but I'm curious to get your opinions on this. It is something I've never seen before.

    Hi Jeanette –

It's adorable, but my first reaction is to say “NO,” it's not an Estee Lauder compact. You can see the “auder” on the puff, assuming you're using a magnifying glass and your nose is pressed up against your pc screen, but I can't read the rim of the compact,

Remember, I'm the one who said one particular Buy It Now – about 3 years ago – for $100 was NOT an Estee Lauder solid. Turned out to be our “Bob the Panda”…sob…sniffle…sob…. <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />

Maybe you can ask the seller to give you a clearer shot of the rim of the compact. It would help if you could see the actual name engraved on it.

    Good luck…and don't miss out on another “Bob” because of me! <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />

    Hi Karin – Could you move over a teensy bit…I feel squished. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

    Hi Jeanette –

    YOU'RE KIDDING !!??!! <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />

    Well, obviously not!! So you're not still hiding under a rock because of it and still handing out advice I see . . . <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

Well I say “go with your gut instincts, and if you like something then buy it, if you don't then leave it”.

    Michele, you obviously didn't like the look of Bob back then . . . . . <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />

No, Sandra. Not kidding. It's not that I didn't like him…he just looked so strange. Not like anything else Lauder ever made, for sure. Now we have a fuzzy bunny…..hmmmmm….Roselyn would know! <img src='style_emoticons//ph34r.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ph34r.gif’ /> One thing I'm not doing is handing out advice about solids…that's like taking a walk in a mine field lately….am keeping my opinions to myself, thank you. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

ooops…just got a response. I emailed the “seller” a question about the name on the rim of the compact. The message said: “I am out of the office until October 10. Will return your email then.” hummmm, sighhhh….sort of like “voice mail” on a pc….guess we won't find out anything until then…and that's a big maybe.

The rabbit is cute, but I'm trying to picture someone whipping a fuzzy bunny out of their purse in a nice restaurant, opening it's little back and powdering one's nose. This makes an interesting mental visual…

In the description the seller says that the bear was made by a bear artist and gives her name. The powder compact inside is an EL compact. So…the bear has nothing to do with EL. The artist chose to use an EL compact to insert into the bear.

    Hope this helps.

BTW…I am a previous bear collector and this is very common for artists to do.
