Hi Lisa, Maggie is right, Harrods now have a monopoly on solids here in the UK which is not good for collectors.SandraMemberJanuary 26, 2005 at 9:13 pmPost count: 2188
Karen is right – only DJ's and Myer (Grace Bros). In Sydney, only the stores in the city centre sell them (and maybe only about 7 selections each year, not many of each).loveperfumeMemberJanuary 26, 2005 at 9:34 pmPost count: 226
In Raleigh the general distribution solids are sold at Belks, Dillards and Lord and Taylor. The only ones I have seen at Nordstroms was Cupid's Garden and the Flower Blossom – none since then. They sell out pretty quickly around here.perfumememoryMemberJanuary 26, 2005 at 11:36 pmPost count: 104
In Singapore, we have solid perfume sold in many bigger departmental stores. Different solids are sold in different store, but all of them will carry the general distrbution solid perfume. So if you are looking for a particular solid perfume. You might have to visit them one after another, cos most of the sales lady do not know solid perfume well. This is not their main product here.

Isetan and Takashimaya are Japanese department stores. <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ />
So surprised to hear that they sell different solids! <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />KKMemberJanuary 27, 2005 at 4:30 amPost count: 876
Good topic <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />
Robinsons-May and Macy's in Southern California, Dillard's and Foley's in the southwest and a small dress shop in my town sells EL solids and compacts.
Looks like Japan has the most stores <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />

The Robisnosn-May and Macys in Orange County, CA do not sell the EL perfume solids…only seen them at SAKs Nordstrom's and Neiman Marcus.pinkmoireeMemberJanuary 27, 2005 at 8:39 amPost count: 112
I can only speak for my own city. We have a department store here called “Globus”, where they sell solids on an extra EL counter throughout the year. They sell not only the general distribution ones but also solids from other provenance (i.e. such as Neiman Marcus [Taj Mahal?] or Nordstrom [cupid's garden?]). Last Christmas they sold also Judith Leiber's.
I know also of at least 3 different stores in Zurich where they sell solids:
but Brigitte would know better.

We have lots of perfume shops and drug stores here in Swizterland and most of them sell solid perfumes through out the year. As far as I know the manager of EL Switzerland chooses which ones to import and we never have the whole palette available. To my knowledge we never had the exclusives like Strongwater etc.
Also we've only had them 1 year later than the USA, but since about 2 or 3 years we get them in the same year they were issued.
As far as I get difference prices I always make a price comparions list, here is the link:
Of course it always also depends on the actual exchange rate.LisaMemberJanuary 27, 2005 at 6:16 pmPost count: 2664
That's a great comparison chart and very startling to see the price variations in different counties.SandraMemberJanuary 27, 2005 at 9:09 pmPost count: 2188
Wow Brigitte!! Fantastic chart of price comparisons – thanks for that!!
We got a lot of the Lieber's and Strongwater's last year and the Erte's but only a few of the others.shelleyMemberJanuary 27, 2005 at 11:00 pmPost count: 6

I can only say yes I have purchased plenty of solids from Robinsons-May and Macy's. Also Nordstroms, Neimens & Saks. I got an EL solid from Macys for Christmas. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />
