Hi Woody,
Thanks for letting everyone know. Which solids are offered at Bergdorfs?
GaylaHi again,
Never mind! I see now that it's the Neiman solids! I need to read more carefully! I received one of the Neiman solids a couple of days ago. I purchased it from the New York Neimans. Has anyone else received any of the new solids? Does anyone know if you can get the general distribution ones like the snowglobe and the soldier yet?
Thanks,
GaylaGayla,
Donna will have the general distribution solids in September. Which solid did you get? Are you pleased with it?Barb,
Thanks for letting me know. I got the one with the little rabbit. It's adorable. I am very pleased with it, but I don't think I will purchase anymore of them. It is just too depressing to see them on ebay the next year for nearly half the price. I do plan on getting the nutcracker or soldier and the snow globe from the general distribution, but that will be all. Maybe Estee Lauder will feel the pinch and eventually lower their prices.

GaylaI understand the frustration of paying full price and then seeing it a few months later on Ebay — for less. Or worse, win on Ebay only to see the same item from the same vendor sell for less than I paid. But who is to say which piece will become the next carousel or ivory princess that will lead buyer's to lose their senses over? Maybe it will be the little rabbit you just got. <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />
Neiman Marcus in Tampa got the solids yesterday. I was told there was a problem with getting them through customs from Canada. They were supposed to be here for an event last week and the event was postponed till yesterday.
I was VERY disappointed in them. My opinion:
The opera house looks sloppy – unlike the flowing lines of the opera house in Sydney. The Coliseum is boring. The Eiffel Tower is too large and doesn't have enough bling… it could have been outstanding. (Note: EL calls them the opera house, coliseum and Tower — doesn't mention the cities or the word “Eiffel”). The map of Texas and the Broadway sign are glittery but one dimensional (i.e. flat)–why didn't EL include stands? I think World Traveler is the most attractive. I bought World Traveler because I like it, and the Tower as an investment (a big guess on my part).
ArI agree with your comments. Many
of us have said (for a loooooooong time now), that if the solids were limited
it would inspire (if that is the word) us to keep buying! Not, may
I add, because they were limited but due to the fact that we would not
see our purchases consigned to the dust heap later, i.e. selling low, low
low. Everyone wants a bargain but……we want to know that the bargain
is due to LUCK not ''clearance sales'' for the masses! Secondly,
we have asked for a special item for Collectors to purchase within a club for EL Collectors! This has never transpired….Like Ar I will wait to see the new solids for myself and will make up my mind then.
Meanwhile, let's hope that Harrods keep to their policy of limiting various items.
Those I will purchase (but only if I really like them)…<img src='style_emoticons//cool.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’cool.gif’ />

GaylaHi everyone
Can someone tell me which store Neiman Marcus or Bergdorf in New York usually stocks the best selection of compacts or will they both have all of the 2006 travel theme compacts?
Thanks!
MitziMay <!–emo&<_<img src='style_emoticons//dry.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’dry.gif’ />I know Donna Muzio at Bergdorf's in New York has all the solids you can call her – her info is in the Store Locations part of this site. Good luck and happy sales!

KatitaThanks Katita (and Woody) for the info. I will be paying a flying visit to New York soon so to fit everything in will be somewhat like a military exercise. <img src='style_emoticons//rolleyes.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’rolleyes.gif’ />
It now seems Bergdorf's will be my first port of call but I will ring Donna first!Oh happy days <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

ArI couldn't agree more with you about the Sydney Opera House. I received mine yesterday and was so disappointed in it <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ /> . I wanted that one because my husband and I had visited it on our anniversary and it had sentimental value before I received it. The proportions seem completely off.
I also got the Tower and the World Traveler and like them both.
Hey! I know….The Sydney Opera House will be come the next hot piece because of the unique qualities of poor craftmanship and design demonstrated in the creation. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />I only bought the Texas solid and I really like it. It goes with my cowboy hat and boot so that's why I decided to get it. Also, mu husband is originally from TX. I winced at the price, but I do feel that it lives up to the bling. The solid can be balanced to stand up on its side (giving is a 3-D effect) and it looks nice that way alongside the cowboy hat and the boot. I really liked the broadway sign but don't have any sentimental reason to buy it, so I passed on it.
I, too, am worried that these solids may go for much less on ebay and I would be upset to say the least. I am also hard-pressed to put out the money for these solids at the dept. store prices. However, if one is into the GWPs (I'm not as I don't use EL cosmetics), then that makes the purchase less painful.I didn't like the tower, even though I was in Paris and saw the Eiffel tower. I really liked the Colesium…lots of details, but again, had no reason to buy it.
The world traveler suitcase didn't do much for me as I like more bling on my pieces. It reminded me too much of the GD suitcase, which ended up in the outlet malls for much less.
As for now, I am holding my breath about the Texas solid purchase. <img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ />
Hi everyone – my Beautiful Lone Star State arrived yesterday – I really like it. It's a little Texas <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> and it goes great with the cowboy boot and Hat. I can't wait for the others to arrive!
Wishing everyone a HAPPY AND HEALTHY WEEKEND! Good hunting!

KatitaHi Katita,
YUP! The Lone Star State solid is a winner. Just curious if you are displaying it flat or on one of its sides. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
