I just could not wait to tell all the solid perfume collectors what I came across today at one of the famous Antique Markets in London.

On one of the stalls I found….wait for it…….

The rope solid which had been re-designed or whatever, and changed into something else!

The gold rope boxes with their destinctive clasp and back of the solid which has the circular design, had been re-dipped into a gold (whatever….will check with Zooey) and on the top instead of the tuquoise stone they had various ones with different designs i.e. glass mixture of small stones etc. I did not have the camera with me otherwise I would have taken a picture.

Inside the boxes there was no Estee Lauder imprimted. I am wondering if these are containers which for some reason or another had been dumped and someone had thought they would use them into something else. The small containers were quite heavy and I can sniff out a small

estee Lauder container by the feel, look and finish. THESE WERE DEFINITELY, IN THEIR PREVIOUS LIFE, ESTEE LAUDER SOLID PERFUME CONTAINERS.

I just had to share this with you as I have never seen this before! Had the item been less than £25 I would have purchased. But for something which I did not like and which looked so cheap due to the design on top of the box, I did not feel like spending that amount of ££££ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

    Hi Petals!

For the finish to last, it/they should be dipped into a mix of copper, nickel and rhodium (very expensive) or…22K gold. Go BACK to the “stall” (is this a barn sale? 😀 ) and see if you can sort of chip a little off with your nail…but do it as if you are just sort of rubbing it. We don't want to visit you in Old Bailey. At least, not without some Bailey's. 😮 If a little of the finish flicks off, it could just be a brass coating, which is not so bad. It should last, as long as no one nicks it! Then again, it could just be a gold colored paint. If so, it WILL chip off. 😕

I would take a picture and forward it to Aerin Lauder just to see what she thinks. And yes, she will contact you. They actually sound lovely…possibly very old Estee Lauder trinkets.

Get thee back to the barn, girl! 😆

    Good Luck! 🙂

Michele, why are you so convinced that one will get a response when e-mailing to Aerin Lauder???

I e-mailed her last September and never got any answer. 😡

Will take the camera with me later this week. Thanks for the input and hope to send you pictures if the rope boxes are still there. The finished product was ghastly!

Jacky, just a handy thought – perhaps you could update your mobile phone? Then you would always have a camera at hand.

Very handy for when you need to record images straight away without having to memorise where and what you see. 😎

Sandra, My mobile does have a facility for taking pictures but I have never used it and think the pictures are lousy! Will have to get the handbook out as you are right! Went there yesterday but did not see them.

Now I shall look at my mobile but have no idea what I can do with the pictures. It is a motorola, so any ideas???

Ok – three ways you can get your pics out of your phone:

    1) connect it to your coumputer via USB port

    2) send the pics via bluetooth to another device nearby

    3) send the pics via multimedia message to any other mobile phone

Any of these options any good to you? 😎
