HI EVERYONE,

I'M ON MY OWN FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS WHILE PAUL IS WITH HIS FAMILY AND I'VE BEEN GOING THROUGH OUR DVD'S PICKING OUT ONES WHICH I CAN ENJOY WATCHING.

RECENTLY WE BOUGHT HARVEY, THE ORIGINAL ONE WITH JAMES STEWART AND I LOVE IT – MY TYPE OF FILM. THE DISH, WHICH IS AUSTRALIAN AND IS A REALLY GENTLE COMEDY – NO SEX OR VIOLENCE SAVING GRACE, A BRITISH FILM, AGAIN A GENTLE COMEDY BUT WITH A NICE STORY TOO.

WHAT OTHERS CAN YOU RECCOMMEND – I HATE BAD LANGUAGE, VIOLENCE AND UNNECCESSARY SEX /blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ />

I really like October Sky (Laura Dern), Don Juan DeMarco (Marlon Brando, Faye Dunaway, Johnny Depp) and Catch Me if You Can (Leonardo Dicaprio and Tom Hanks). There are two old classic John Wayne movies recently released on DVD, which have been in the archives for decades….Island in the Sky and The High and The Mighty where John Wayne plays a pilot. And of course, It's a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart is always good for the holidays.

All of the Humphrey Bogart movies~Casa Blanca, Maltese Falcon, etc.

You can rent or buy or watch on TMC. You can't go wrong with these movies.

Here are a few that I have enjoyed.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind…. (Why was I the only one to cry when the space ship landed)

Shirley Valentine…. (We could all do with running away to a Greek Island at sometime in our lives)

The Full Monty…. (What a laugh, you just want all of the men to succeed as strippers)

All of the John Wayne films….(you just know that he will get the girl in the end and the cavalry will come over the hill and rescue them and they will be happy ever after)

Oklahoma…. not sure on the spelling of that….(My all time favourite, all that singing and dancing can cheer anyone up)

Harry Potter…. (Pure fantasy and the special effects are so well done)

We like a lot of Steve Martins' films.
LA Story is really funny, Roxanne is a good love story, and Father of the Bride is a good family comedy. <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ />
We believe Steve doesn't get the credit he deserves as an actor. He projects a warmth in these films that few actors can copy. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

I love movies, I agree with Don and Margaret about Steve Martin – my favorite is Roxanne. I love The Wizard of Oz and It's a Wonderful Life. Some of the best comedies I've ever seen were not mainstream films but foreign films, The Snapper and The Van are really funny. They both star Colm Meany. I also liked La Cage Au Faux (forgive my spelling), in America it was remade into The Birdcage, also really funny. I love all the Peter Sellers movies too. He was great.

If you like sci-fi films Dark City is really good, and I also like old sci-fi films like Forbidden Planet and Tron.

Some great animations films I like are Fantasia (the original) and Fantastic Planet.

Hi KK, I actually have watched Schreck with my Husband, it is in part way over the kids head, LOL. We also like Spiderman. If you just want funny movies, any of the Mel Brooks ones like Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and just coming out the Producers are great. Obviously we have a warped sense of humor, LOL, Lainey

I have to admit I'm a HUGE fan of Sci Fi . thriller and horror movies, so not your style… <img src='style_emoticons//ph34r.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ph34r.gif’ />

but strangely enough, my favorite all time movie is Arsenic and Old Lace, with Carey Grant. If you're a fan of Harvey, you've got to see that one! Here's a movie you will love, “Bell, Book and Candle” starring Kim Novak, Jimmy Stewart, Elsa Lancaster, Ernie Kovaks, and Jack Lemmon. It's a sophisticated but light-hearted comedy that takes place in Greenwich Village in NYC on Christmas Eve. It's my absolute favorite movie of all time.
