Hi everyone,

My flowers are backwards too.

We need to be careful not to shoot ourselves in the foot by not buying the solids and, or, bringing their value down. Of course, I think we should report problems, but I sure don't want my collection's value to tank!!

By the way, this is a great forum. I am proud to be a member.

I just got off the phone with EL in LV because my JS solids just arrived and after I post this I''m off the post office to return them. I was told that the flowering flagon (the one with the backwards flowers) was done that way on purpose. IT'S NO MISTAKE!! They decided it looked better than the original mock-ups we saw earlier in July. She said they got a note from Jay Strongwaters people that agreed. Also, the other solids that arrived were all TERRIBLY made. The hinges are askewed and loose and they one of them didn't sit right. I know I intented to return them anyway but my lord these aren't worth $15 never mind $100s. Obviously they aren't paying attention to quality anymore and if they tell me “this was done on purpose” (like the other one) I really don't believe them. Well, there's my 2 cents. I'm off the post office to return them. I so disappointed. <!–emo&<_<img src='style_emoticons//dry.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’dry.gif’ />

This makes me so sad. There doesn't seem to be any pride in workmanship anymore. When I started collecting (about 5 years ago) I thought of my solids as little works of art. They were as precious as a piece of jewelry. This year I won't be buying any of them. Not only is the workmanship shoddy, but they're all starting to look alike to me – only the species of flower seems to change from solid to solid. I do like the new dragon, but for $350 I want sparkle! Is anyone at EL listening to us???

I agree totally, especially when they start selling for less on Ebay or at one of the CCS stores. I'm back from the Post Office, my solids should be back in LV by Monday. I'm so disappointed in the quality of these solids. I am going to use the $ I would've spent on new solids to buy some old solids that I don't have yet. This whole thing has become quite distressing. I do wonder if anyone over at EL listens. Again, my theory is we're complaining to the VERY people that benefit from the warehouse sales so my guess is they won't be doing anything about it in the near future. Too bad 'cause I'm willing to bet I'm not the only loyal solid collector who's left with a bad taste from all this.

So I did hear back from EL reguarding this issue of the Flowering Flacon, I was told the solids as it is now is the correct way. I was told changes were made by Jay Strongwater last minute. This is what I am told, I must say I was very pleasantly suprised I got a response from EL.

So now we have an answer!

In my opinion Estee Lauder is the only one to blame for the drop in prices of our collections. If any company sell a collectable item than the company has a responsibility to the collectors. I feel EL is not taking responsibility what so ever by letting solids be sold for less than their retail price- period
