ooops…my apologies to Roselyn. Not a mis-print. My bad! I'll go correct that now, if I can. 🙄

Michele, you are right with the beautiful 1993 barcode…it is 27131 04681 3…I need glasses (Ialready have them, but may be I need stronger ones 😎 .

I think the last # is a control # which is done by the computer calculated as a summary of the first ones (did I explain that correctly???)

Yes, 7195 was for the White Linen and 4395 was for the Beautiful one.

I know that the White Linen was issued in the USA as you can tell that because of the Label on the box.

The label of the US issues is smaller than the one from the European.

The US box also has a label with price tag on one side of the top.

The European has no side label, but the name of the solid is written on the bottom label.

Jacky, I'd be thrilled, to get at least a pic of this box, thanks a million.

butterflies, yes, if I have the boxes I can tell you the barcodes, as long as the boxes have one.

There are 2 different codes: the normal E.L. code (normally 4 #) they had from the beginning and the barcode which E.L. started in 1991.

I have the same problem with the stickers….I'm sure I lost some of them because of that problem 🙁 .

    Hope this helps, Brigitte

Thanks so much for clearing that up, Brigitte. Am glad to know your Bar Code and Control No. (?) match mine! 🙂 Basically, you're saying that the White Linen and the Beautiful Compacts have the same Bar Code but a different Control No.? Right? Wrong?

My brain has short-circuited from all this information, but it is comforting to know we have a place to come to so that we can “match” our documentation on questionable boxes, fragrances, etc.

And yes, my “Beautiful Butterfly” base matches the second box you have up…but no price tag and no room for one. The label comes right to the edge.

That's it for me today…you all have a great one!

Hey!!! Found my friend!!! Hope she's still with us….

as 1993 as 1994, White Linen have the control code 7195 and the barcode 27131 04374 4, those two also have the same boxes but different labels on the back side of the bottom. Check all the pics please.

Thank you for all the information and photos, Brigitte. There's so much to learn about collecting EL solids! I feel better knowing that members here are a valuable resource and that I can be confident when buying solids from the “seasoned collectors”. Which reminds me, I need to ask Phyllis if she still has the ivory series dog for sale. My wishlist never ends… 🙂

Got it! Now…one last question on the Butterflies. Was the 1996 Butterfly – made in the same shape as the '93 but a pinkish enamel – done twice also or just once, with Pleasures?

Oh…another question. Sorry! Have you ever considered writing a book, given all the EL artifacts you've collected? I mean…seriously…why not?

The Pink Butterfly from 1996 was issued only with Pleasures.

No Book, as there already is one from Roselyn gerson and also it would take too much time to do it.

    Have a great day, Brigitte

Yup! That's exactly what I explained to you in a previous post. And that's exactly what is on my Butterfly Box. As far as not being able to see the small print, don't feel alone. I WAS wearing glasses and still needed a magnifying glass to give you the numbers! 🙂

    Have a nice day. 😀

I have been out all day and not long arrived home. Have a mountain of stuff to sort out and also need to re-read all the posts. Very interesting and once again, a mine of information.

Will catch up gradually with everything…….. 😮

Sandra – Where have you been? No…don't tell us.

Took the Butterfly auction down so this entire thread was probably a waste. I've studied the poor Butterfly so much we both got tired…plus, there was one clear crystal I just wasn't totally thrilled with. Nothing noticeable to the naked eye, but still…a little separation between 2 stones grew, in my mind, to a super-highway! 😮

Plus, there's another one up that just is not the same color enamels as mine…almost looks, well, different. Not up to Estee Lauder standards as I know them to be. Who knows???????????

Bottom Line: The Butterfly stays with me. She's happy…as am I. 🙂

By the way, there is an elephant under the heading prototype on Ebay right now!

HOW DO WE KNOW THIS IS A PROTOTYPE AND NOT ONE OF THE EMPTY SOLIDS WHICH COME out of Canada …………..! We know they are being copied there etc. and if they are now trying to palm off certain solids (by changing the colours etc.,) as prototypes, is a thought.

I have quite a few prototypes and I have seen other collectors' prototypes!

This one is very new looking etc., but I may be wrong.

Brigitte, would you give your thoughts! I read in the auction that there were only two released and the seller had seen the first. Would love to know who has the first one.

These are my thoughts which I am entitled to express having been a collector for a number of years. I do not want a slanging match and will refuse to answer any posts which are antagonistic re my comments. Discussion, yes!

    Michele,

    on my

    PROTOTYPES SITE

    the Elephants are picutred.

You may enter a keyword in the field “NAME” to find the ones you are looking for and then click the “SELECT” button

    or

just look through all the pages by clicking the “forward button” at the bottom of the page.

I only own the last one “BLUE WITH RED TASSEL” which is taken laying down.

The first ones belong to a collector friend of mine.

She has had many Prototypes since many years and I'm sure they are real Prototypes.

In 2003 she allowed me to have all of them photographed for my site and they've been shown on my site ever since.

    That's all I know,

    Brigitte

Hi Brigitte – Just to keep things in order, I did not bring up the Prototype or whatever it is. Am sure you just had a tiny slip of the keyboard letters.
