    Hi All 🙂

Estee Lauder have released a Union Jack solid for the jubilee celebrations. It's very nice but a bit expensive at £320.

I have attached a pic, what do you think of it?

    Daisy

ps It's on the Estee webiste, not a Harrods only solid

Not New. We have had ours for a couple of years.

Brigette will have the exact date.

It was issued in 2008 with Pleasures fragrance for £ 200.00.

I called Harrods and they told me that the new one is slightly bigger than the one from 2008 and the bling-bling is different.

According to my opinion the price of £ 320.00 is an absolute shame.

So Estée Lauder do release solids in the middle of the year? I thought new solids only come out at the end of the year.

Sandra, would you know how do I buy the new ones? Do I just go to Myers or David jones and how do I know when they come out?

    Thanks

    Hi Brigitte

Thanks for the photo of the 2008 flag. I did know there had been a flag previously but I couldn't find a picture and had no idea if it was just a re-release.

The price is a shocker isn't it, I don't know where they get it from!!!

What a shame they could not come up with something really special like the English Emblem which was not as expensive and also limited in number.

It would seem that they have a lousy marketing strategy especially when collectors are looking for something really special, collectable and not at exhorbitant prices.

I went yesterday to walk along the Embankment to see where would be a good place to get to this morning. It is raining, etc., and I will still go to try and see the flotilla of boats on the Thames. Whether I will find a place to stand is another story. Meanwhile, will leave the t.v. recorder on so I won't miss anything.. Took some pictures yesterday but the light was poor, dull and overcast, and not alot happening. Today will obviously be different but I might be leaving it a little too late as I do not want to stand for hours on end!

Now have to get organised! If anyone would like to see any pictures then email me through my link on the left hand side under my name……..

Hi Alice, I'm not sure whether Myers in Sydney still sell them. Nowadays David Jones only has a selected few of the new ones each year. They send previous buyers a catalog prior to release so that they know. Otherwise they are not advertised anymore to my knowledge.

Yeah, totally agree, Jacky ! Someone could have come up with something really special for the Diamond Jubilee. We have some great stamps and coins out over here to celebrate it, none of them is just a single union jack. I will look out for you waving your flag on the Embankment. Should be a great day – hope it doesn't rain.

Perhaps something special will come out later on to celebrate the London Olympics . . . 🙂

Totally agree !! Way too expensive in this market, and probably only because there will be a hell of a lot of tourists there this year for the Diamond Jubilee, Wimbledon and the Olympics. Maybe they will get lucky and sell them at that price. 😡

Is it just me or are the crystals on the 2012 version not even lined up correctly?

Will check it out! Cannot have a Union Jack without the red, white and blue crystals matching. Now I must not forget to take my good glasses. Normally I forget my memory card and no wonder! Ho Hum……… 🙄

I had a look at the solid yesterday but the crystals appear to be in order.

How they have priced it so high beats me! I would not pay £200 for it, let alone over £300! Very disappointing to say the least…. 😕

You are right Jack. In Brigittes' picture of the 2012 one the blue crystals are just kind of thrown in.
