    Hi,

I have been reading the board for a while and enjoying your posts and pictures. I have been collecting for about 15 years and have quite a few solids. Sometimes I'm afraid to admit how many I have! You all know how that is! Sandra

<img src='style_emoticons//cool.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’cool.gif’ /> Well welcome to you !! And it's good to see you're finally posting. I think you'll find whatever pictures are available of new solids in the 'members photos' area as well as info about them in previous topics, though someone may pick up this thread soon and be more informed than I am.

We folks over here only get limited solids and stocks, so most of our purchases would be unseen !! A terrible way to have to buy, but thanks to this site we are able to read other people's opinions and see their pictures at least beforehand.

Nice to see a new 'face' on the site.

Thanks for posting. What are your favourite solids so far? Do you have any themes?

    Hi Sandra,

I had a hard time trying to reply but I finally figured out how to do it! I'm not so great on message boards yet! <img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ /> It must be difficult choosing solids when they are not really available in your country. I see that this website is very important for collectors like you! I happened upon this website and I was so excited when I found the new Neiman and Saks solids before I received the pictures from the very nice salesgals at Saks and Neiman's who keep me informed.

As far as collecting themes, I just collect the ones that I think are the very prettiest or that have meaning to me. I seem to have a penchant for pink feminine ones though! My very favorites in my own collection are : the pink Tutu,
the princess phone, the Vanity, and the Jay Strongwater Boudoir Butterfly Hairbrush. I have the Dollhouse as I collect dolls too, and I have the Artist's Easel (I can't remember if that's the correct name for it) since I enjoy painting and artwork. You know how it goes though, you can find a bond with any solid if you really like it, such as…I had to have the Gingerbread house since I love to bake and make gingerbread cookies ever Christmas…and so on and so on! I usually buy one or two Jay Strongwaters each year, I think his are stunning, and one from Neiman's and one in the regular line. I also love the powder compacts too! This year I bought the Tower from Neiman's as I love all things French! I try to limit myself to 3 or 4 solids a year and one powder compact or so per year so I don't break the bank!

I have really enjoyed all of the pictures that you creative people have put up and it's good to know there are others who have the collecting bug too!

    Greetings and welcome, Sandy.

Sorry I can't tell you when the new general distributions are expected in the stores. Usual time is early October, I think.

A collector for 15 years! Wow! You must have a nice collection. Your favorites are some of the real goodies. Do you collect only Estee Lauders ? Have you any unusual ones?

So keep posting. Everyone here is friendly and helpful and enjoy hearing new ideas and opinions.

    Hi Again,

Sorry I still don't have the hang of this posting thing! I keep putting the last post up before I write a new post. Oh Well! I have been really busy lately so no time for fun computer stuff, but I have some time now. Hi to Phyllis and Margaret. As far as having any unusual solids, Phyllis, I don't think that I do. The only one that I have that I don't see too often on ebay is the peach from Neiman Marcus. I only collect Estee Lauders. Margaret, I am like you and I don't know if I like the powder or perfume compacts better. The powders are so beautiful lately! I just got the rose from Saks…gorgeous! I know what you mean about moving to the shed soon! <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> I would love to see everyones collections. It's all part of the fun isn't it?

Have any of you read “Confessions of a Shopoholic” by Sophie Kinsella? It is very funny! I just finished the whole series (4 books) and while she is WAY worse than me I can relate because of my Estee Lauder stuff! If you like to shop you would probably enjoy these books. It was nice to hear from you ladies. Thanks for replying.

Hi Sandy, I can't imagine how many solids you have collected in 15 yrs. I've only been collecting since Feb and have over 100 alreay. I'm going to need a new curio cabinet. The Tutu and ballet slippersare 2 of my favs, and I love the Strongwaters. I think the quality to detail on them is exquisite. I bought the bunny w/cabbage and strawberry surprise this year, am hoping to get funds together soon for the teapot. Unfortunately, I like them all. I think I need another job!!

Margaret, I had a good laugh when I read your post…I know exactly what you mean about running out of room. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> My husband and I are in the middle of a big mess trying to rearrange our home for my collection! What can you do there's just so many beautiful compacts.
    Regards,

    Hello Kittycrazy…. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

The post about the garden shed is true…… <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> things have got really bad room wise for us this last two years and its our collections that are taking up the space. We have now deceided to buy a large garden shed to house all my husbands trains and cars…..Its either do this or move house…. <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ /> and we both like where we live.

    Hi Chowlover2…. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

    I THINK WE ALL WILL BE WORKING THE NIGHT SHIFT SOON!!!!!!!!!! <img src='style_emoticons//ph34r.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ph34r.gif’ />

Well Margaret, I saw something today which I thought would be nice for your
Dolls House! But at £100 I thought I had better walk away!

Enjoy your holiday. Will miss you at the U.K. Chapter Convention, and that
message goes out to all of you unable to join us this year.
