Just got in from LV this AM. Slept most of the day to catch up from Vegas nights and change of time zones. See Lisa and Lorraine have provided wonderful and accurate details of the happenings so I will just express my personal thoughts.

Great to meet Beri and Galina for the first time. They are very enthusiastic and excited about collecting. It was fun to see such pleasure in their collections. Of course, it was great fun to reunite with Nancy (I am noshing on Scottish shortbread right now, Thanks!),Angela with the most beautiful smile and hair, Lorraine with her wonderful, pleasant, easy manner. We managed to stay out of trouble and didn't quarrel over a single solid. Woody everyone already knows is the best! And the incomparabe Lisa and Jack. Great fun to be around them. Nice to meet so many at the convention and impossible to name everyone. But of course I cannot overlook Liberace! Wasn't he something!

Feel sad that you are somewhat down on collecting at the present, Lisa. All collecting, as are many things in this world, is rather cyclical. It will change again and you will regain your origianl passion for it. Know it is disappointing not to sell most of your wonderful treasures at the show. It is not easy to sell to collectors because they already have so many goodies. However, I could feel your excitement and pleasure when you spoke of obtaining some of your most sought after pieces. Woody and I agreed that we see new names of collectors coming aboard and am sure we will see a lot more.

Thought Estee Lauder was indeed generous in hosting the Sunday brunch with preview of the new solids, the gift compact and prize drawings at the dinner.
Their Saturday evening presentation was very upbeat, very scripted and they kept it under compete control by not opening for questions or discussions.

I do like the Pink Lady and purchased same. Will have to think about what I might be buying of the others.

Monday Gene and I took a taxi the newest LV hotel Wynn. We had a delightful afternoon. What a fabulous place! Wandered all over it and marveled at the wonderful design of light and color. Carpet and flooring in gorgeous flowers and foliage, lightening of wonderful designs and colors. Thousands of flowers everywhere. The shops were Cartier, Dior for men as well as women, Oscar de La Renta, etc., etc. Saw Judith Lieber evening bags designed with the colors and patterns copied from the hotel elements of carpet, hanging lighting, etc . Only $4,000 and $5,000 each. Ate lunch at the huge buffet in the hotel. Scrumtious with an enorumus selection of foods. We felt the afternoon one of the highlights of our trip and fully intend to stay at this hotel should we return to Vegas.

Was a fun trip for us and glad we participated. Wish everyone who frequents this site could have joined us. Maybe next year?

    Phyllis,

I hear you about catching up on sleep, we were still napping today (two days later) every night there we went to bed around 4 in the morning LV time (we are three hours ahead in FL) our flight was slated to leave LV at 1am but was late and didn't leave until 2am I was awake the whole flight and poor Jack had to go into work and he still isn't feeling good.

We also went over to the Wynn and it was beautiful, I loved the hanging flower topiaries in the trees. We would like to stay there too but who ever is willing to put us up wins. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> I heard that whole area by the Wynn is being developed, Trump is building a hotel/condos across the street, the Venetian owner is building a 53 story 1.6 billion resort and I think Wynn is building something else.
Also the Aladdin is being turned into a Planet Hollywood.

Thank you all for telling us about the convention and make us feel part of it <img src='style_emoticons//wub.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wub.gif’ />
As usual I am mostly interested in the powder compacts. Does anyone know the price for the Las Vegas compacts, I assume that is the black and red crystal one and the queen of hearts compact. And what about that gorgeous snowflake/snow crystal compact, is it a Las Vegas exclusive and how exclusive is the price?? It must have been horrible to be in the LV store seeing these and not being able to by them yet <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

I have a question. The gift box in the general line looks exactly like the gold and silver ones from 1975, with the difference being the lower half of the 2005 one is red. Am I mistaken?

    Ron,

Yes, you are correct in saying the new solid looks almost exactly like the giftboxes from the 70's. The difference is like you said with the lower half being red. I don't agree with this design as I think the designers could have come up with something unique and something not seen before.

Hi everyone! I just uploaded my first and second photos ever! One is of Lisa and Jack and one is of Liberace at the EL store. I have some others to upload but I'm still working on them. I just spoke to Nancy – she's in NYC and hopefully I'll see her and Lewis and maybe even Billy and Jeanette who arrive tomorrow. She sounds tired but very happy. I'll let you all know when I upload more photos. I'm new at this, please be kind. Take care.

It seems everyone is as enthusiastic as I am about the Convention. Great reporting Phyllis, I too liked the Wynn casino. Hated the slots, nothing came out. (I thought I might win with the same slots that they have in Aussie, but, no.)
So sorry I didn't get to meet KK and Katita. Hope you get the picture of
Liberace up….wasn't he glamourous??? you know, he wasn't one bit
embarrassed with all the makeup and hairspray.
Don & Margaret…. the Moody Blues were gorgeous….besides being wonderful musicians. Go see them again if you can. I did buy a DVD of them.
    Take care all.

Liberace, also known as Lee is my new SA I was suprised to find that out. This is due to Rosalva leaving.

By the way did anyone find anything out about the rewards certificates? I don't recall getting one from the LV store in a whole years time and I certainly spent enough.
