    Hi everyone,

If anyone lives on Long Island, NY, Jay Strongwater will be signing Solids tomorrow, December 11th at Saks on Long Island at 11:00 a.m.

My SA told me to bring my Solids in now because he “pre-signs” them (I told her no way), and when I asked her about the White Certificate, she said she didn't know what I was talking about. Petals

Denise, when he signed my solids in London, he gave me a signed Certificate for each, too!

    Jacky,

If I didn't read this Site, I would have never known about those Certificates. I still find it hard to believe that my SA who has worked in Saks for over 10 years doesn't know about these Certificates….

That's why I didn't want to bring them over today, I want to ask Jay Strongwater in person for the Certificates, plus I get to see him again!!! Yeah!

P.S.: My SA did tell me that the reason Jay Strongwater is exclusive to Saks (I don't know if that is true), is because his parents were Hat Makers for Saks when he was a little boy. The business went under and Jay took the Crystals from the Hats and started to design. Once again, I don't know if that is a fact, just what I was told.

    Update to yesterday's Signings:

Jay Strongwater was as pleasant as ever and he signed 3 of my solids, he is so thoughtful as he told me to wait 4 minutes for his ink to dry.

I did get the Certificates and I had a nice chat with Jay. The Hat story is completely wrong, his parents were in the Jewelry Business, not the Hat business (where my SA got the idea is beyond me!)…..

I asked Jay if he knows when he will do another signing and he told me that he never knows where he goes next “they tell him”. I don't know who “they” are and I didn't ask.

    Had a wonderful day and I look forward to meeting Jay again, his talent truly amazes me! <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

    Denise –

Thank you for your info. I had gotten the impression from my last encounter with a signing event that “Jay's people” – or maybe it was “Saks people” did not like him signing items that were not bought at the specific event. I am glad that is not the case. I didn't get any of my 2004 solids signed as he did not do an event at Saks in Chicago, but I love them just the same <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />

You are absolutely correct Woody. His 'minders' were not happy at all and did not want him to sign the pieces which I brought with me. But, I did persist and it paid off. He was really happy to sign and to give me the Certificates, but they did try to stop him! <img src='style_emoticons//rolleyes.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’rolleyes.gif’ />

DENISE IT WAS A PLEASURE TO MEET YOU AT THE JAY STONGWATER
SIGNING EVENT AT SAKS YESTERDAY. HE IS CERTAINLY A
    NICE GENTLEMEN.
I WAS TOLD THAT HE WOULD ONLY BE SIGNING NEW PURCHASES.I
DON`T KNOW IF IT WAS ONE OF HIS PEOPLE OR FROM SAKS. I DID
BUY HIS NEW DECO CLOCK AND HE DID MENTION THAT IT WAS A
    GOOD SELLER.
NEXT YEAR I AM NOT GOING TO RUSH OUT AND BUY THE SOLIDS
THE MINUTE THEY COME OUT UNLESS I KNOW THERE ARE ONLY A LIMITED
    AMOUNT BEING PRODUCED.
WE DID GET TO SEE THE NEW SOLID COMING IN LATE FEBUARY BY
JAY STRONGWATER. THE PAGODA…….ITS SWEET AND WE WILL ALL
    WANT IT.
I WAS GLAD THE WEATHER WAS GOOD AND MILD SO I COULD MAKE
THE TRIP. I HOPE HE COMES AGAIN SOON. I ENJOYED IT!!

    Hi all,

Yes, I didn't buy any new Solids either but I brought in 8 Strongwater Solids and no one told me that I had to buy another one in order to get mine signed.

Of course, they only let Jay sign 3 Solids, which was fine with me, plus I received the Certificates.

Woody, one of the Saks people nicely asked me if I was going to buy another solid, and I told her “I'll be back!” I know alot of the people there, so no one pressured me at all.

    Terry, it was also great meeting you…. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

    Denise,
Did Jay Strongwater say anthing about the solids he designed for 2005? I see Terry got to see the pagoda. Wondering if that's the only one he's doing for spring. Thanks, Joni

    Hi Joni,

To be honest, I didn't even ask him about the 2005 Strongwater Solids, I was too busy chatting with Jay about topics that we had in common.

I did ask him if he read the Site, he just smiled and told me that he receives Roselyn's Newsletter.

He also told me that he does his designing in Manhattan and his solids are produced in Rhode Island.

I will call my SA and find out how many Strongwater Solids will be coming out for 2005.

    Sorry I didn't ask!

Thanks Denise for the information. I've never had the chance to go to any Jay Strongwater signings – I don't know if he's ever been out to Seattle. It must have been very exciting for you. I think the solids he's designed are some of the most beautiful so I'm really looking forward to seeing any new ones he's designed.
    Thanks, Joni <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

    Hi Terry,
Can you give us some information on the Pagoda. Is it the same size as the Gingerbread House and the Victorian Doll House? What color is it? Are there any crystals on the Pagoda?

BARB, THE PAGODA IS ABOUT ONE AND A QUARTER BY ONE AND A
QUARTER IN. IS MY GUESS. IT IS A ORIENTAL RED. IT HAD SOME
STONES BUT NOT MANY. THE WAY WE LIKE OUR STONES ON OUR
SOLIDS I WOULD OF LIKED TO SEE MORE,LOTS MORE INFACT.
MAYBE THE PRICE WON`T BE TOO EXPENSIVE BEING THERE
ARE SO FEW STONES. ITS NOT TOO HIGH IN HEIGHT EITHER.
LIKE I SAID ITS SWEET AND ITS A JAY STRONGWATER DESIGN.
    I LIKE EVERYTHING HE DESIGNS.
I WANTED TO BUY THE SAMPLE BUT IT HAD NO PERFUME IN IT.
MAYBE IT WILL ARRIVE IN THE STORES LOOKING DIFFERENT.
    MORE BLING BLING!!!

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL, TERRY

    Can't wait to see it!
Thanks for all the great information.

I missed getting my solids signed this year also. Jay came to Palm Beach but I was just too busy that day and didn't feel like driving + I would have been upset if I got there and was told the signing was only for things purchased that day.
