Waiting for the Xperts to come on and say whose this is!

I'm not an expert, but I somehow doubt it's an EL.
The seller probably doesn't know the maker. Lauder is the most expensive solid perfume company, so it's the most convenient to label it as such. Plus, collectors will find their auction easier…kind of like listing a powder compact as “solid”. <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ />
I say NO to the duck, to me it looks like a saccharine holder. <img src='style_emoticons//huh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’huh.gif’ />
I say 'NO' as a solid- it is a salt cellar or a saccharin holder like Lisa says- It is UGLY no matter what it is
I hope the Vegas show is great- I am in school til June 25th will be in Vegas the 27th to July 3rd for my after school R&R- I wish the show was later so I could make it- I hope there is a Barn and Flower cart left for me at Cesear's when I get there too!
You all have fun for me!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I found a very similar duck in Roselyn Gerson's beautiful book “Vintage & Contemporary Purse Accessories” on page 47. However that duck seems to be the one the e-bay duck is a copy from… There is no information about the maker however I think we can conclude that it is a solid perfume compact.
Happy hunting!
KarinThis must be a book I do not have. Have just looked in Vintage Ladies Compacts and also Vintage and Vogue Ladies Compacts! I also have the other Solid Compact blue book which is always being sold on Ebay. Did not know there was another book by Roselyn Gerson.
Was hoping to see what you were referring to Karin, but <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />
Presume that was definitely the number of page ?
<img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ /> If there is another book, would you please give me details? Many thanks!
Hi Jacqueline,
You do need to have this book as well!! It is about lipsticks, mirrors and solid perfumes in general. I believe it is still for sale on Amazon.com where I got mine. As I wrote the title is “Vintage & Contemporary Purse Accessories” and the ISBN no. is 0-89145-790-9. I do recommend this book, there are solid compacts from (of course) Lauder as well as from Max Factor, Avon, Fiorenza et al. and unidentified ones (like the duck). The chapter about lipsticks is also really fun. It inspired me to buy powder compacts with matching lipsticks…
Hope you find it!!!
KarinHi again, just checked Amazon.com and they have it for 16.97.
They also have Roselyn Gerson's book “Vintage vanity bags and purses” if you wish to have her complete “reference catalogue”. Since I am mainly a powder compact and purse collector this one is my absolute favourite book, but it is so gorgeous I think anyone would have a fieldday browsing through all the pictures.
Have fun!
KarinThanks so much for the information Karin (not to be confused with my friend Karen)! I will be checking it out. Meanwhile I do have another Powder Compact which I will be putting on the site once I have taken a decent picture. Perhaps it is in one of the books which you have. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
Would love to see if the Duck you are referring to is similar to the one above!
