Hello Ar…. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
No it did not make me feel bad at all. The image it brought to mind was lovely….just the thing to cheer me up.
This morning I managed to sit out on my sheltered patio area and drink a cup of coffee, the frost was still on the roof tops but the sun was warm on my face. My husband thought I had gone mad….. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> but I told him I was just desperate.
Hello Chowlover2…. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
Like you we have had a lot of high winds this year and they make me crazy as well.
I find them so scary. We live in a Victorian house and I am always checking the roof slates and the Chimney. Last weeks high winds blew all the glass out of one side of my greenhouse…. <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ /> and they say the weather will be bad again this weekend. Will summer ever come…. <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />
My best wishes to you both……..Margaret
Hi Margaret, what are summers like in England? The weather here gets very hot and humid. Sometimes I feel like I am living in FL with all the humidity. It warmed up here yesterday, and temps have dropped again tonight. I would love to see spring. that has beome rare, as it seems we go right into summer weather. At least the bulbs are starting to bloom which brings a smile to my face. I have yet to see my groundhog make an appearance. When she shows up on the back lawn I know the warmer weather is here to stay. So far, she is still hibernating….
Hello Chowlover2…… <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
I have put my reply in general discussions.

HI everyone! I am off to convention tomorrow. So far, I think it is just Phyllis and I, but we will have a great time I am sure. I will be kicking off a specialty collector group on solids, so wish me luck! I will give a recap when I am back and settled in.
Woody <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

Hi Woody…. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
You have a good time at the convention and good luck with the collectors group. Wish I could join you but building work on our house is keeping me at home untill the convention in Vegas.
My kind regards to you.
Margaret……..
Woody-
I too wish you all the best at convention especially with the solid collector group. I'll be there in spirit cheering you on. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> I'm so glad Phyllis will be there too. Horray!Look forward to your report when you get back home. I'll also be curious to hear if EL did announce at the meeting any of the upcoming 2008 Fall/Holiday solids.
Have fun,
GigiAr,
I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be a new version of the slot machine <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />Karin
Hi everyone. I am back from convention and it was a very nice one! The hotel was great, I could see the St Louis Arch clearly from my room. We didn't have many solid people there, but Phyllis and I did our best to promote Estee solids. It was great to see my friend Ollie from England who was on the hunt for a few elusive Estee Lauder powders. My Estee Lauder roundtable and the Collector Specialty Group talks went well and I have a number of people who expressed interest in the collector group. It will focus on all kinds of solids as well as other related collectables like powders and other vanity items. What was especially nice at the roundtable discussion we had was that I showed 4 wonderful items that I had bought right at convention: an Estee Lauder scarf, a jeweled green apple (yep, a green apple!), a wonderful powder compact with lots of jewels, and finally, my best find of all, a brown/dark amber ginger jewel in just wonderful condition! See what you missed! I believe Phyllis added some treasures to her collection as well. Unfortunately, no one from Estee Lauder was present this year so I have no news on new solids or powders. They seem to be keeping it very quiet.
So, that's it. The convention next year will be in Albuquerque and I am really excited about that. I love that part of the country and we'll make a real vacation out of it.
I am sure Phyllis will give her update as well..

Madeleine
Thanks for the update Woody. Appreciate.
Hi Ollie! Hope you had a good trip.<img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
Yes, thanks Woody a whole bunch for all the news. Albuquerque sounds like it will be a whole lot of fun. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

Hi EveryoneObviously I have a much slower recovery time than Woody. <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ /> There was so much to keep one on the run at the convention I needed to catch my breath. The exhibition hall with all the pretties is, of course, the main attraction. Our Florida Flamingos group wore pink feather boas to the opening of the hall. We “flocked” our friends by adding a few of our feathers to their name tag. In addition there was the collector's market, various seminars and presentations, auctions, round tables, luncheon and annual meeting. And of course, the fun of room hopping seeking treasures. Even though there were not other collectors primarily dedicated to solids there were plenty of solids to be found. As Woody said we both found some we wanted. One of the collectors I met has a collection of 2000 solids. I had a wonderful time and so enjoyed seeing Woody and a lot of other friends. Most members are very happy with the choice for next year. New Mexico sounds like a great place. Hope you all will consider joining in the fun. With Woody's new specially group we can anticipate more emphasis on solids.
Phyllis
