Hi everyone. I just received my registration packet for the International Perfume Bottle Assn Annual Convention, being held in St. Louis on May 1-4, 2008. The convention is being held at the Sheraton St Louis City Center. I will be there and actually am going to co-lead a newly formed Specialty Collector Group on Related Perfume Collectibles, Solids and Compacts. I have missed seeing a lot of solid collectors these past few years and hopefully will see many of you in St Louis. You can find additional info on the convention at the IPBA website:

If you have any questions, I would be happy to respond.

Do have fun Woody and please give us the details when you're there.

I'm so disappointed I can't go to either convention this year.

    I know you'll do GREAT! <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />

    Hi Woody

Do I understand correctly that the new group you are heading is not just for the convention but is planned to be a permanent Speciality Collecting Group of the IPBA? It seems like a good idea to be able to furnish and receive information by individual collectors on their specific interests. These new groups could become a very important part of the association. Ya think?

Hi Phyllis. That's correct. This is a new effort by the IPBA to further provide an opportunity for collectors to share their passion and knowledge with other collectors. The St Louis Convention will be the first time the collectors groups will meet. There are approx 10 groups, with “Solids, Compacts and Other Related Collectibles” being one of them.

Thanks everyone. I don't think we will have a big contingent of solid collectors this year <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ /> But I will definitely let you know how it goes. And I agree Ann, I can't wait for Albuquerque! (Did I spell that right???? <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> )

And I have to mention..it is good Friday, the 2nd or 3rd day of Spring, and we are having a major snow here in Chicago!! CRAZY!

    Have a Happy Easter everyone.

    Hi Woody….. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

Just so you will feel a little better we have snow over here as well….. <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />
It started good friday, today we keep having little snow showers and then in the morning (easter sunday) the serious stuff is going to arrive……sometimes I wish that I was a bear and could sleep through it all….. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> Along with the snow we also have very high winds. Yesterday my husband and I went to a large antique fair. It was held on a very old air strip in a very exposed place, to say that I feared for my life when in the large tents would be an under statement……I don't know how they stayed up.

Does anybody have any good weather at the moment if so, can you please remind me what the sun looks like…….. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />

    Regards to you all…..Margaret

    Hi Woody:

Sorry we won't be able to make the convention this year as we had made plans two years ago to attend a doll convention at the same time in Albany New York. We will miss IPBA, but we're really excited as we will be extending our trip to Stockbridge, Mass. to see the real little Hitty doll. Kathy and I have been doing programs lately for several local organizations on Hitty. Maybe next year. Tom and Dennis are staying home to babysit my “herd of Hittys.” Hope my new knee will function properly by then as I want to visit some eastern antique shops.

What is the story on no more Monsen and Baer books? I so look forward to them every year.

    Margaret,
We got a cool spell here in Florida but it should be back up to 80F in a day or so. Today I had lunch at at outdoor restaurant on the water, watching the boats go by and the gulls soaring. There was a breeze but it was refreshing. I hope this doesn't make you feel too bad!

We have had incredibly high winds for the last week here in PA. The bottom of my garden flag is now shredded. Now I know why they say the Mistral makes peoiple crazy in France. The winds we have are making me crazy in PA!!! Come on Spring!
