LYNDELL :
LISA IS RIGHT……..VERY WELL SAID!!!
AND THE OTHER MEMBERS WHO SHARE THEIR THOUGHTS….HERE'S TO YOU AS WELL….
THE ONES THEY MADE YEARS AGO WERE SO MUCH PRETTIER AND SPARKLED SO MUCH MORE!!
THE SOLIDS FROM THE PAST COUPLE YEARS HAVE REALLY DONE NOTHING FOR ME EITHER…..
REGARDS,
PAMELA<img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> In addition to the Pink Lady, this year we will only be purchasing the Harrods' solids. The new ones are not only overpriced but are not as nice as most of the older ones.
Pamela
Esteelady <img src='style_emoticons//wub.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wub.gif’ />I am considering the SAKs limited one but want to wait and see how the pricing goes, too. I am a little gun shy due to having been stung by the devaluing of the newer pieces via ebay and warehouse sales–as all of us have been. <img src='style_emoticons//unsure.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’unsure.gif’ />
Well, we broke down and bought the Dragon and the Saks Romantic Moment perfumes. Just could not resist these two. <img src='style_emoticons//huh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’huh.gif’ />
As by now we usually have all the new ones we don't feel too guilty. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
I will NOT <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ /> be buying anymore from the EL Stores-The Pink Lady is my last one- I will only buy them from eBay or other collectors from now on- At this point I don't care if they have scent in them or not- I have enough to make my display case smell good- I collect them for their look- not their scent-
Let EL Execs eat it big time <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ /> maybe they might have to let one of their servants or maids go when we all boycott!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh noooooooooooMark has left the room!! <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />
I also will not be buying any Solids at retail this year and maybe not at all. I am no longer as enthralled with them as I was and can find many other ways to spend thousands of dollars each year. Estee Lauder does not seem to need or appreciate the money. Lainey
It will be interesting to see what happens with the cheap eBay prices when so many intend to get the new solids this way. With so many buyers, don't you think prices will go up? <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ /> Any thoughts?

That makes perfect sense that that would happen… the ones that benefit are the people scooping up the solids at the warehouse sales. The higher the prices go for them, the more they want to sell, and just feeding more into the problem. No matter what, these warehouse sales are a losing situation for us and winning for them.
I'd like to buy the LV exclusive compact ..the one for $200 with all the bling. BUT…I am holidng off to see if it shows up on ebay. I almost feel like asking my SA over there to buy it at her cost and pass the savings on to me. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />
I feel that I ma entitled to somewhat of a price break because I've spend lots of $$$$$$ and would like to for once, get a better deal on a compact or a solid.
Have decided not to buy any of the new solids this year…GDs and exclusives.
Anyway…everything right now is relative to the costs involved in my bathroom remodel. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />
I more than likely will purchase one new solid from Estee Lauder counter sales this year. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ /> After all! The general public still buys automoblies from G.M. and Ford and they still produce “Lemons.” <img src='style_emoticons//huh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’huh.gif’ />
“Just my own personal thought!” <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />QUOTE(Lyndell @ Aug 4 2005, 01:54 AM). Solids were supposed to be a collectible and therefore gain in value, not be like a car and lose money as soon as you walk out of the showroom. <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />I like solids but now view them in “real” terms to use an economist's jargon. One solid is equal to a mortgage repayment, a new pair of shoes etc. Can I justify spending that amount of money on an ornament? In the end EL are just ignoring the basics of marketing. Who is king? The customer, the customer, the customer!! How do you focus your business: on what the customer wants, on what the customer wants!! Well this customer wants solids to be cheaper (much), better quality, prettier, and come with a limited edition signed certificate giving a number out of the total <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ /> – otherwise they are just a pretty perfume, not a collectible <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ /> .
Hi I'm Kasi and haven't been here in a while
I agree with you totally Lyndell. I agreed with you a couple of years ago and stopped purchasing the entire line from Neimans, Lord and Taylor and Harrods. Now I only buy what I really like
Also I think the poduction has gotten worse and the flaws worse and not better. magnetic clasps ala china…give me a break…. Not at these ridiculous prices. Why can't they number them like they did the mothers day necklace? Then we would really know how many were made….
Waving Hi to Pamela(estee lady) Ken and Anne, and Woody
Long time no talk toKasi
Here's how I see it. For the price of a solid, I can go out and buy me a pair of designer sunglasses and that way I can enjoy the money I've spent on a daily basis. Also…for the price of 10 solids….gee..that could buy me some serious bling that I could wear daily and enjoy as well. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />
2cute 4u, I agree, I look at my collection (that you saw) and no longer am getting the same thrill from it. I think I would rather have a new pair of Diamond Earrings or some other Bling rather than buy anymore of these. Lainey
I'm with you Lainey on the Diamonds and…………. So maybe it's
time to keep some of the cash and spend it on some other beauties…
after all, ''Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend''…. <!–emo&<_<img src='style_emoticons//dry.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’dry.gif’ /><img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />
Diamond Earrings are NICE. Thou you aren't likely to display them. Alas, the world is such today that it isn't very safe to wear them. Most likely they will be kept in a safe or safety deposit box. So – I will continue to enjoy looking at my solid collection and displays. Maybe it is not quite the same “thrill” but it is still a lot of pleasure to me. Would never give it up unless it was absolutely necessary.Doesn't mean I disagree with not buying the new issues when they first apprear.. Each of us tries to get the best for less. And we should buy only what we like. Not just buying to make a profit. I am a collector, not a dealer. Anything I have for sale is a duplicate in order to upgrade my collection. Maybe some day it will be worth more – or maybe less. Whatever – matters not to me as long as I still love looking at the little treasures.
