    Hi Ron

We didn't answer earlier about this because we don't know what the heck is it.

It is very stange to say the least.
I would find it hard to believe Mrs. Lauder signed it.

The quote is from one of her books.

Brigitte might know more about the quote or the compact. The cat compact is fairly new.

Have you asked the seller about it.
Is the quote engraved on the mirror or cut out of a book and pasted on?? There are some folks doing crafty things with EL products.

About the compact. I dont think it was made before 1995. Here is an article stating that Mrs. Lauder retired in 1995. So as the saying goes BUYER BEWARE

Just to follow up on hostageticker stealing our cactus picture.

Ebay emailed me and they had removed his auction. <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />

    If he is honest we feel badly now. <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />

We want to publicly apologise to the ebay seller Hostageticker. We purchased three items from him/her and all arrived in perfect, as described, condition and very quickly for the amount they had to mail out at once.

We feel badly for our petty comments in this thread about them and wish them the best whatever their situation is.

We would not hesitate to buy from them again and know others of you must feel the same way. We sincerely hope we never to jump to bad conclusions so quickly about anyone again.

    DON AND MARGARET……

DO NOT FEEL BAD, IT IS ALWAYS A GOOD THING TO BE SCEPTICAL ABOUT THESE SALES, I FELT JUST THE SAME. EBAY CAN BE A SCARY PLACE AND I THINK YOU WERE BRAVE TO BID ON THIS ONE.

YOU GAVE YOUR OPINION IN AN HONEST WAY AND ALERTED THE MORE INEXPERIENCED MEMBERS OF THIS SITE TO A PROTENTIAL DANGER.

    MY BEST WISHES TO YOU…….MARGARET <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

Just to follow up on the signed Cat compact. For the period of EL traveling museum display in the fall of 2001, Holt Renfrew in Montreal invited very famous engraver from Taxes who performed a beautiful engraving on the mirrors of El compacts and on her perfume bottles. It was at the same time when Estee Lauder counter presented Roselyn Gersonís book as appreciation gift to anyone who purchased three or more powder compacts or solid perfumes. Some of the collectors have engraved EL quotes from R. Gersonís book. I believe that many others stores had the similar events.

Seems the poor guy has had so much stick that he has changed his Ebay ID!!

    Quite a turnaround from his last ID – it's now “Clean-halo”. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

[/I]Well he was an honest seller Sandra. Meanwhile, the motto here is ''look before you leap!'' A few personal words to the seller before bidding on the auctions would probably have allayed ones fears. He was new to solid perfumes and selling on Ebay, and as such it was easy to make mistakes re pictures etc. Personally, I cannot see anything wrong either with starting an auction at 99cents.

So ''ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL!''

    That's great! <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ /> Glad to hear everything turned out positive. I wasn't sure at 1st, so I didn't bid.

The 99 cents didn't bother me. Just the unfamiliar userid with low feedback selling a big collection. That doesn't mean anything necessarily, I'm just cautious/skeptical by nature (includes everything in my life).

Solid auctions don't end at 99 cents anyway. Bids usually go higher than normal on hard-to-find solids when priced low. <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />

I've noticed that when a seller is being talked about, they never come here and defend themselves. Maybe scared? Or, don't know about this site?

If you guys were talking about me, you better believe I would come here to clear up my name. <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />

Hello Greyhound, the seller did not know about this site as he was/is not a solid collector. So as I wrote previously, no harm done and All's Well That Ends Well!

As far as the solids were concerned, it was very exciting to see so many good ones listed. As I did not have my own computer at the time, I was not able to watch as much as I would have liked!!!!!!!!!!! <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />

The seller now has an infinite amount of positive feedback from all those solids he sold, so no reason to wonder anymore. He has cleared his name by his actions anyway, although for some of the solids he didn't get as much as he could have as everyone thought he was a bit sus. <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />

Probably in hindsight, he should have released them little by little so that he could gain confidence in bidding. However, he probably needed the money like he said, so that's why he did them all at the same time. <img src='style_emoticons//unsure.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’unsure.gif’ />

Must have been pretty organised to do it all, hey? <img src='style_emoticons//cool.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’cool.gif’ /> The poor guy must have been glued to his computer for days!! Bet you he's glad it's all over now! Must have plenty of space now he has cleared them all out!!

<img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ /> It's Pinkie from pinkies-closet & auctionsforyou. I am never on here and I don't think people who are selling an odd solid know about the site either. Just you collectors.

I was interested in all the postings. I have a code in my html in my auctions that blocks people so they cannot right click and copy the pictures or the description. You can go to the top of the page and copy/paste; but it does deter a few people. When someone has copied my pics; or description or both (I sold a guy a Lancome set and he turned around and copied my pics and description and relisted it but I killed his auction with ebay right away because he had 5 other items up for auction he had just purchased and did the same thing). BUT normally, being a nice e-partner, I email them asking them nicely to remove my “intellectual property” quoting the ebay TOS and in most cases, they don't even have a CLUE that's it's not kosher. THey have most likely been surfing through life letting someone else do all their work – in every area. If they don't answer, are rude or don't take them down, I do notify ebay and they kill the auction. So, they lose the listing fees and learn a lesson but I do give them the benefit of the doubt.

I do sell on ebay and try to be the best seller; but I know the origin of all my items and you can see by my feedback that I am honest. In general terms; if it smells bad; it normally is. <img src='style_emoticons//ph34r.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ph34r.gif’ /> If you see it again, email the seller. I emailed someone this week who didn't know someone had copied their listing dot per dot and they were so happy I let them know.

I am DONE buying on ebay, even if I love selling. I have a horrible track record of buying on ebay though…. even buying from good FBK people.
<img src='style_emoticons//ph34r.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ph34r.gif’ /> My one negative fbk was from someone who I bought a Lilly sweater from NWT and it came with a huge white spot on the back where they had tried to remove a spot and rubbed the silk so it was iced. She was so nasty when I asked to return it and would only allow the return if I lost postage both ways; so when I filed a fraud complaint on ebay against her; she left me a neg and even 5 months later out of the blue left me another nasty followup comment and emailed me horrible threats. Obviously a disturbed person. I resold the sweater recently by showing the spot and accurately describing it. It was because it was 3/4 sleeves she also forgot to mention… look silly on me as I am 5'8″ and thin. Looks like a shrunken sweater. I also just bought another Lilly from a seller with 1900 fbks who said it was in excellent condition. He had a few neg. from misrepresenting his items. It came and you would be embarrased to drop it off at the good will. It had so many stains, ink marks and a big hole in the back. You wouldn't even say it was poor condition. It was rag bag condition. And, I paid $55 for it. He did refund my money, but wouldn't refund the postage, so when he filed to get back his final value fees, I refused to allow it and he lost about the postage amount on ebay from the listing fees and final value fees. <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ /> I didn't leave him neg because he has a history of retalitory fbk.

LISTINGS! I am listing the rest of my porcelains MIB this week. Some of the boxes are not mint, but some are great. All the items are perfect; so if any of you collect those; let me know.

I also am listing a few color story scarves if anyone collects EL scarves. Take care and have fun on here!!! Monie
