Well, in my opinion it looks to me like the selling of the solid perfume compacts at the EL warehouse sales had not stopped liked promised.

On ebay now there are two 2004 Strongwater solids selling way below the cost that we all paid. I am tempted to purchase them using BIN and returning mine back to Saks, perhaps then the solids will not be sold at the warehouse sales Ann and Ken

I thought maybe I was the only one thinking that sales were still occuring. <img src='style_emoticons//unsure.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’unsure.gif’ /> There are too many “empties” still showing up, and many in the Sunday/Monday timeframe. I do hope that we hear a response.

I only bought the Jay Strongwater pieces initially, and then “folded” and bought all the Erte compacts as they started to grow on me…but now I am seeing those same compacts listing on Ebay starting @ $1 – $5, after I paid full price……..I know that many of you are in the same place…. <!–emo&<_<img src='style_emoticons//dry.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’dry.gif’ />

Well, I spoke with someone who attends these sales and was told they are held every other weekend and yes, the solids and powder compacts are still being sold.

What a shame and a terrible thing to do to collectors.

EL is raking their SA's over the coals because sales are down and it is not their(SA's) fault.

My question to Mr.Anise remains the same– Why would anyone buy retail when we can buy on Ebay????????

Well, if anyone doubted that I would return my solids, here is the proof:

I am the proud new owner of this bustier, the solid has perfume but no box. I paid $100 for a solid that retailed for $175 + tax and shipping from the Las Vegas store. Pretty expensive box…

From now on I will not use store charge cards on future purchases I will pay cash or use my Visa so if I need to do a return I can put in a dispute.

Lisa I got the other 2 – I wasn't going to buy them since I am still recovering from my car accident and funds are limited but heck I bought the whole line at retail SAKS last year so I don't feel that guilty at these. I agree with you 200% I look at the cost vs value of my collection which is almost all of the crystal set solids and now see it go down. Maybe if enough are returned they will get the message that they are cutting their own throats in the end.

It does however make me feel good to see the 2 Carosels on Ebay going so high knowing I paid retail orignally.

Sorry to hear of your car accident and hope you are well on the road to recovery.

The only “carousels” we will see in the last couple years are the Harrods solids being that they are limited (I hope) now the costs of all the solids are being driven into the ground because of the warehouse sales and CCS.

Why does EL continue to do this to their loyal collectors? <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />

I have spoken to a couple of reps (Saks and Niemans) and everyone has said sales are down……and one Saks rep was well aware of the outlet stores and discounts her collectors are looking for.

Before I respond, I want to make sure I understand exactly what is being said here. Do you mean that EL is dumping Jay Strongwater compacts at their Warehouse Sales FILLED WITH PERFUME? <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ /> I always thought the compacts were empty and/or damaged.

Good on you, Lisa for taking a stand and sending them back. Let them know how you feel and to all the others also – show EL you draw the line!!

You have not stopped your passion for them, just not going to pay retail. That's more than understandable. Hopefully they will sit up and take (more) notice now !!

I hope that everyone reading this topic will follow Lisa's lead. Just imagine them all being inundated with returned solids!!

And, if they are on Ebay for BIN$100.00, just imagine what they were bought for!!

I can only for sure say that the solids and powder compacts being sold right now at the warehouse sales are last years and older. Not just empties are sold at the warehouse as they also sell returns from the CC stores and they still have their box.

The solids sell for $10.00 , the powder compacts sell for $5.00 at the warehouse.

The current solids and compacts being sold at discount maybe coming from SA's that are using their store discount to get them and then selling on ebay.

I was offered( she called me) a 30% discount by a SA that I don't use .
I declined ( kick me) and paid retail but never again will I pay retail.
Even some stores are offering “deals” to get this years solids sold as they are not doing well.

I feel bad for the SA's as this is not their fault but I can't keep paying retail when I can buy wholesale. Fool me once , shame on you. Fool me twice, Shame on me.

Check where you bought your solid — some stores only refund within 30 days then you have to take a store credit.
