Did everyone see the 2001 Bear on Ebay! That is certainly a record price! The bears are the best for sure!

😮 Wow !!! And I think the winner was prepared to pay more as well (if you look at the bidding history) . . . makes me think of selling mine if that's the price you get these days !

Some people obviously aren't feeling any financial stress !

I also watched the auction and have my own theories on why it reached such a high sale price.

As these bears originate from a different part of the world i.e. not the U.K. let's hope that we will not see the market flooded by our friends via the factory etc.

I am surprised the Hat Box which is a rare one and I have never seen a copy of this particulsr solid, did not sell higher.

Am sure this will give a boost to everyone buying the Bear this year and I expect they are prepared for the influx of orders at Harrods.

    Watch this space.

And to think I never liked the bears…… Perhaps only buying what you like is not such a good idea afterall….. 😮

Good luck to all that have them….. 😆

YIKES!!! I wonder if the buyer hit too many zeroes by accident!

I never cared too much for the bears either, I only have two. I don't have Rodney and I'm not motivated enough to pay high $$ for him. I prefer more unique solids such as the carousel.

That's a thought Ari! I recently put something up for sale the postage charge being £1800….!

The price for Rodney was definitely Over the Top! Doesn't make sense to me….

Have to buy the perfume bear to post to someone overseas. Will see how many are flying off the shelves now when I go in to Harrods!

    Jacky,

Please let us know! I'm always tempted to buy something when I know its going to be scarce. In this case it would be for future investment…

Who knows, if the bears don't sell well this year maybe the new Harrods owners will discontinue them.

Yes, I too saw it and was stunned. Someone really thought they had to have it for their collection! I will wait, maybe it will show up at a flea market 😆

And here they come! Someone just listed another Rodney on Ebay with a start price of $1,250! Still too rich for my blood! I wonder why they don't just list a buy it now for $3,000! LOL

Does anyone know if the Harrod's 2001 bear came with a card in the box saying how many were made? I know some of the earlier solids had the cards. Thanks.
