Howard FUCHS (fooks) only works if you have an accent from the north of England, I believe.

When I worked for a taxi company someone called wanting a taxi to take him to the hospital. His name was Frisk which in translation means “Healthy”.

    Yet another funny topic.

We have a carpet business, and one very upper class lady came in and when we asked her name she said….(pronounced),,,,,,,,,,,,,,,”Mrs DeArth”, when we asked her to spell it, the name was DEATH.

Another was Mr and Mrs Pratt……………….will say no more!

Last but not least my son went to school with a Dutch boy, named Wanker Miller, can you imagine every time the poor boys name was said, thank goodness at that time they were none the wiser.

My son is now 37, I wonder what Wanker thinks of his name now!!!! <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

OOPS……I forgot to mention one of the best in my memory.

    From my High School days:

    I had a geometry teacher who was very kind to me….knowing that I would NEVER be a “math person” <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

His name was ALVA S. SHEPHERD

He always wore lovely monogrammed shirts.

    His pockets read: A.S.S.

    His students just “loved it”. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ />

    Happy Days……

    Just noticed this topic…….

MY HUSBAND AND I OWN 2 FUNERAL HOMES HERE IN UPSTATE NEW YORK. MY 3 CHILDREN ARE ALSO FUNERAL DIRECTORS …….NEEDLESS TO SAY WE HAVE MANY STORIES…….AND SOME ARE KIND OF FUNNY EVEN THOUGH OUR BUSINESS IS A VERY SERIOUS ONE. OUR FAMILY AND OUR STAFF ARE ALWAYS VERY RESPECTFUL TO THE FAMILIES WE SERVE AS WELL AS THE LOVED ONES THEY HAVE LOST.

WHEN WE HAVE CALLING HOURS AT OUR FUNERAL HOME WE MAKE UP NAME BOARDS TO DISPLAY ON THE WALL NEXT TO THE DOOR WHERE THE LOVED ONE IS BEING SHOWN…….

QUITE SOME TIME AGO WE HAD A GENTLEMAN WHO'S NAME WAS A BIT DIFFERENT…….WELL YOU DECIDE….

    RICHARD B. STILLHARD

I AM SURE HIS FIRENDS CALLED HIM DICK.

    PAMELA <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />

ok people i've got a few interesting names for you….

first I went to school with a guy called “Peter Pierre” – not very imaginative of his parents!

My brother bought a house from a woman named Irene – “I. Swindles”

My mom had a friend in school called “Phoeme Dix” (say it out loud, like Phoebe)

and finally, there was a man in my hometown called “Isadore Adore”. Of course, in the phone book, he was listed as “Adore, Isadore”

oh, and I had a doctor named Dr. Munchie (try not laughing at that one!)

I can't catch the Stillhard-joke, but that doesn't matter. On the other side I'm very sorry for poor Mrs. Selma Aas. In her case I should have changed my family name because this means carrion…

In the course of the reorganization of the emanzipation of jews (above all in Galizien/Eastern Europe) in the 19th century, jews had to take family names. Officials arbritrary gave them these abusive names if families couldn't pay for a “nice” name.

I know of a popular German actor who's former name was Treppengelaender (which means banisters), but afterwards he took his wife's name.

    Hi Friends,

I love this topic and I too come across many fun names, but none as funny as the above, therefore I will mention street names…Two Rod Highway and Twatling Road!! I swear…and I had to mail items to these customers…Ah, life is so much fun if you know where to find the humor in it!

Elly ~ just had to comment about Wanker – I started cracking up!

I remembered another one this morning. About 3 years ago I had a client at a company where the CFO's was named Dave Tuschie (pronounced tushie), and my manager on that job's name was also Dave, so I was forced to use his last name all the time so people knew which Dave I was referring to. I giggled ever time I had to say Tuschie. <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ />

The only funny name I remember in school was a girl named Sunshine her last name was Lord. So of course in gym class when they called your name we had to hear “Lord Sunshine”
