OK, I just adore cooking and I tried this great recipe this weekend and thought I would pass along to anyone who is interested- it was simply fabulous and very, very easy.

    Lemony flank steak

Place flank steak (cut slashes in steak with knife so marinade goes into meat) in a large zip lock bag and all the following ingredients:

the zest of one whole lemon
the juice from one whole lemon
a couple dashes of black pepper
about 3/4 cup of soy sauce
    2 tablespoons of sugar
    three cloves of garlic- smashed

Shake up to distribute evenly and let marinate in fridge overnight. Turn every now and then.
Oil grill so that the meat doesn't stick and grill over med flame. I like med/rare and cook for around 7 minutes per side.

Let rest and then slice steak across the grain.

So good with garlic smashed potatos.

Let me know if anyone tries it

    Lisa,

This recipe looks delicious. I'll give it a try soon and let you know how it turns out. (Am getting ready to head to FL for vacation!)

    I have to admit that I am not much of a cook, and my husband can attest to that. <img src='style_emoticons//unsure.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’unsure.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />

    Thanks for sharing the recipe with us. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

Okay, I have a dumb question (and I did try to find the answer on the web, but no luck). What is the “zest of a lemon?” The recipe sounds terrific, but before I try it, first need to know what the zest of a lemon is. <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ />

    Hi Martha,
    Hooray a question I can answer <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />
The zest ot a Lemon is when you scrape the skin, go all around until the Lemon is all white.
    And there you have it!!
    Sounds good to me what time will Dinner be ready <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

    Thanks, Maggie! Great answer.

Okay, can someone suggest a good wine to go with this meal? <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />

    Martha,

I think that would be Woody's area of expertise since he is living in wine country. <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />

    Martha,

    Try this website: Wine Spectator.

It will help you match food with wines and provide recommendations.

    Bon Apetite!

Good suggestion, Lisa! I agree, bubbly goes with anything. And speaking of the bubbly, wouldn't it be nice if EL created a champagne flute to go with the champagne in a bucket solid??

    I could get carried away here. <img src='style_emoticons//rolleyes.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’rolleyes.gif’ />

Jeanette, thank you for that great wine site … it even gives you full menus with recipes to go with the wine. A wonderful site … hic … <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ />

Margaret, I agree that a good Claret goes well with steak. Thanks so much.

With all of the international members on this site, sometime we'll have to do a “What's for dinner?” post. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />

I have a similar recipe for chicken, you add honey as well as the other items and use chicken pieces, then bake in a moderate oven till done 45min – 1hr.
