I wish I could say they are as well behaved as they are beautiful. We had a cold and snowy winter in the Northeast this year. At one point we had 50 in of snow on the ground. Because of this, they really didn't get the walks they needed, so with all this pent up energy they broke out of their pen three different times. I am laughing about it now, but was so upset when it happened. Rita, the smaller red Chow is the ringleader. Bear is larger and older, and the snow wouldn't hold his weight, so he didn't stray too far. Rita is full of energy, and the one time I watched her bounce like a pogo stick in the snow. She came home an hour later, and I wish she could have talked so I could have known what she was up to.She had huge balls of snow hanging from her belly and her mane was soaked. Luckily, the snow is gone, and things are back to normal. I have never been so happy to see spring in my life! Right before they started breaking out I was considering getting another Chow puppy. I have since come to my senses, no more than 2 Chows at a time!

I have a parti colored pekingese, Brittney and a black pomeranian, Brat. Bear and Rita would think they were appetizers! LOL! I enjoyed reading about Rita's romp. I do wish sometimes they could say what they are thinking or what they've been up to. The stories we would here!!

In case you would like to go smaller, there is an alert that Idaho has 300 full breed dogs from a mill that was closed that need placement. Most are pekingese. If you got two, they would equal one of Rita or Bear!! LOL.

I think Poms are so cute, like mini-Chows! I was also looking at something called a Shiba Inu. They are much smaller than Chows, almost look like little foxes. I don't know what Rita & Bear would make of one. From what I have read they zre very similar in temperament to Chows. My friend asked me why I don't like obedient dogs, I tell her I challenge!

Bear & Rita are just looking so cool. We had a red chow for 12 years.
His name was Cinnabar. He was like a big teddy bear.
He loved the snow, he would run and put his face right down in it coming up looking like it cooled him off. LOL! <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />
