I've noticed that sometimes compacts offered for sale are damaged. They have a broken hinge or crystals are missing and probably other things that can happen too. The sellers suggest that the buyer can repair them. Really? Does anyone here repair their compacts? Where does one go to find a hinge or the same color Swarovski crystal missing from the piece that's being offered?

Ask a jeweler. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ /> Hope this helps….good luck.. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

You can purchase the crystals at Michaels craft stores. I just bought some pink ones to replace one on my pink cat.

Hello,
you can also buy repair kits on Ebay. The glue works very well with the stones. I think many people from this site bought a repair kit back in 2003. If you put in the keywords “extra rhinestones” you can read what was written on this site back then.
Here is the Ebay link – the seller clutterbuggy is still selling the kits.

Another newbie question regarding the pouches that come with the EL compacts: Are they all satin or velvet? I just received a few compacts and the pouches are black and the fabric is something else….not satin and not velvet and not soft. Just wondering. <img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//ph34r.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ph34r.gif’ />
