Did you ever buy a solid just for sentimental reasons? Annette's post about buying one solid a year made me think that if I had bought one solid last year, it would have been the Peacock for sentimental reasons. It reminds me of my Grandmother, who kept peacocks on her farm. When I think about it now, it seems a little strange for peacocks to be roaming at will on the grounds of a rural country house in the South. I always picture peacocks in some exotic locale like India, but she had them all over the place, and the feathers were placed in huge urns throughout her house. So whenever I look at the Peacock solid, it brings back good memories.

Good Evening Everyone..
Martha,
I love your peacock remembrance. My Mother loved peacocks, too. She had a beautiful brass vase with feathers that I still cherish. My peacock solid reminds me of Mother. Too bad she never had a chance to share my joy in collecting solids. She would have been just as addicted as me!! <img src='style_emoticons//wub.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wub.gif’ />
Mimi
Mimi, I think my Mom liked Estee Lauder also but I didn't know it at the time. She got one of my sisters the first treasure chest that came out. (I still can't talk her into giving me that one.) She would have loved collecting them. I find a sentimental reason to buy lots of solids. Heck, I even make up reasons to buy them. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />
Martha,
For me the sentimental solids are the vintage one, especially the ones MIB because it shows they were once owned by someone who truely loved them too and now they are being passed on to new generation of collectors. <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />
For me, the sentimental one is the scotty dog, which started me on the collecting path…
…and I forgot the Violin, of course, being a violinist. I have mine near a grand piano solid and a little bouquet of pink roses. Like a little recital. I just put a little champagne solid near it, symbolizing the celebration after the performance <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />
Well, I like all my solids, but if I have to think which one has a sentimental reason I would say the TajMahal.
It reminds me my trip to India and the terrible contrast between this magnificent monument and the extremely poor people.
Particularly emotioning me is a photo of a complete family just grouped on a undercarriage, to whom I took a photo from the bus without going down because I had not the courage to take it most near as I tought I would have offended their poverty. I'll show you this photo in the members photos.

Sorry, I wanted to say they dignity.

Mine is the little bottle of youth dew as that was my Mum's favorite perfume and I used to but it for her on her Birthday and Christmas.
I can never wear youth dew as it was my Mum's signature fragrance.
I have also just seen a picture of the new Strongwater Lily Bouquet and Lily was my Mum's name so I think I will just have to get that one.. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />
MaggieMine is the acorn. My hubby is from Ohio and when went there in 1996 he picked up two acorns under the tree in his parents front yard and gave them to me. Shortly after the car accident in 2002 we went to the mall and he stopped in Saks and they were just getting ready to send back the solids after Christmas. They had a few left and he bought me the Prince Charming as I collect Frogs and the Acorn. He then said I may not always be Prince Charming by you have my “ohio” heart. I have both of them by our wedding picture
That is so sweet! <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
My sentimental solid is my pink cat. It started my collection, and as I purchased him whilst holidaying in the USA, it reminds me of what a wonderful time I had.
Being a “cat person” I am a little disappointed with the Jay Strongwater kitty in the pictures perhaps it will look better “fur” real <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />
Dante
Dante,
Did you see the black cat for sale on ebay? Not sure if it is even still available but it was BIN in box for $200. I think for that solid it is a reasonable price (I think) <img src='style_emoticons//unsure.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’unsure.gif’ />
Lisa,
I did see that solid and was/is very tempted. I think it is a good price, but am saving to purchase all the Harrods solids, and am also off to HAWAII in November so need lots of shopping money. <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />
So I need to be strong <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />
