I received word today that Phyllis Parry lost her dear husband Gene today. I had met Gene many times as he would come to the conventions with Phyllis. He so enjoyed her collecting and she can tell you stories of the “finds” he made for her. Phyllis and Gene were married a long and happy 58 years and she will miss him terribly. Please join me in sending lots of love and thoughts to Phyllis from all her friends and Solidperfume.com

P.S. I see that Chowlover also posted a note..
I'm so sorry I never had the pleasure of meeting Gene, but Phyllis told me many wonderful stories about him and their collecting. My favorite involved Gene shopping and deciding to surprise Phyllis with a new solid. He was unable to decide which Cowboy Hat she would ike better, the silver or the gold, so he bought them both for her. He was a dream of a husband for a solid collector!
Yes, he was a delight and a real character…Phyllis would tell me that all the EL Sales Rep at the counters just loved him to death <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />
Those are wonderful memories to have.

Hi Woody, I am so sorry to hear this news. You will remember how much fun we all had at the Reston IPBA a few years ago. They were such a lovely couple and made me feel very welcome. They joined in the 'story' you posted on this board about Angela and I fighting over a solid. They were so full of fun and ready for a laugh. He will leave a big void in Phyllis' life.
I never met either, but convey my condolences to Phylls.
