I just received word today thay a dear friend and truly wonderful lady has passed. Some of you may have known Barbara Summey, a fellow Estee solid collector. I met Barbara at an IPBA Convention some years ago and we became fast friends. She was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and fought it 150% with her remarkable spirit and determination. Barbara and Howard, her partner of many years and the other half of the “dynamic duo”, were at IPBA this past summer and Barbara was true to form – full of life and having a ball. That is how I will always remember her. I am sure that I will be one of many who will miss Barbara and I am so lucky to have known her.

I am sorry too that I didn't have the pleasure of knowing her myself.

I agree with you Woody. Barbara was indeed a terrific lady and she was having a wonderful time at the last IPBA convention. I spent about an hour in their room selecting a few solids and discussing a Chantilly butterfly I had seen in her booth at the show. The pink/cream/gold butterfly was so beautiful and came in the prettiest box ever seen, I just had to take it home. Every time I see it I think of her and remember her fondly. Sorry to hear she lost the battle. Heart felt sympathy to Howard, her family and you her good friend

Woody, so sorry to hear about Barbara. She was a truly remarkable lady. She bought a Harrods Palace from me at the Florida convention and we met up again at Reston. I know she would have fought to the very end – she was that type of person. Howard had even shaved his head for her. We spoke of cancer as my sister-in-law had just had a breast removed and she was so positive. She was determined to fight it and I am so truly sorry she didn't win. I am saddened by the news but I am glad I knew her, even for a short time. She was just so full of life it seems unreal and so unfair. To Howard I send my heartfelt condolences.
She will be missed by many people.

To all who knew and loved Barbara (looks like she was one popular lady!)
I send my condolences and prayers.
It seems to have been a very sad year for a lot of people on the site this year, with some very sad losses <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />
Let's hope and pray that the year ahead brings better news.
    My best wishes to all.

My sincerest wishes too Woody. I did not know your friend but appreciate how you must be feeling right now.

Maggie what you wrote hit a chord! We certainly have experienced some very, very sad moments together along the way and that is why it is so good to see many of you writing on this site who we have shared so much with.

    Dearest Woody,

I am thinking of you and all those who were blessed with knowing this dear lady.

You know, what Maggie and Jackie said is really true. We have all seen a hard

year of sadness in our membership. BUT we have seen many things for which to

be thankful. When I think of Lisa and all of you who were dealing with the

onslaught of the Hurricanes, I am so grateful that all were spared.

And to hear of your dear friend…… I am sorry that I did not have an opportunity to

    meet her.

    Many blessings….
