Ok – I have to vent – again….I am so OVER the number of empty Estee Lauder powder compacts that are being listed on Ebay…more and more everyday….and they all seem to be coming out of the New York area….isn't that interesting /wacko.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wacko.gif’ />

Thanks for letting me try and get this out of my system…it is just SO FRUSTRATING!

Yeah Woody – I've been seeing it all too and after the last call you guys had telling you they'd stop the racket . . . well it hasn't one bit – not even slowed down!!

Let me just say that the EL solid retail sales in the future will be extremely low!

    Let's learn from this . . . and if you can't beat them . . . ! <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />

    It's all very sad. <img src='style_emoticons//unsure.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’unsure.gif’ />

    You are right Woody! The selling of the empty solids and compacts make me sick. <img src='style_emoticons//wacko.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wacko.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//wacko.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wacko.gif’ />

Seems to me that the $.99 E-Bay offers are simply teasers. Most of these have reserve prices – so the $.99 is just to spark some interest.

Looks like it worked. I had previously watched some items with one of the sellers: the auctions were initially priced low, without reserves, but closed at very high prices (higher than retail).

Sometimes, even I, love a tease (should be interesting to watch).

Totally agree Woody. The warehouse sales are gradually eroding the value of all the solids. EL will only realize what they are doing to theirselves when their retail sales go in the dump <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ />.

We love to get the new solids but have to agree with Sandra. Maybe the time has come to wait to buy. <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ /> EL is not only overpricing but is then underselling theirselves. Good merchandising scheme, huh? <!–emo&<_<img src='style_emoticons//dry.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’dry.gif’ />

OK, now how many times do you all have to be told- EL is not selling solid or powder compacts at the warehouse sales anymore!!

    I jest- if this was true then call me the Queen of England <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ />

There is a seller on ebay with solids for auction claiming they came from the factory. It really must be stopped! <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ />

Well I believe things happen for a reason and some you can't control, but most of the solid collectors that value their solid collections would not worry. The solid collections with perfume intact would still be among us a higher value, right!
My aunt and husband worked for a major basket manufacturer and he sold seconds to the employees, then he saw the light and started burning them and putting them in the wood chipper. Of course, he is gone now and I have know idea what they do with their seconds, although I have seen some sell on eBay. So I guess, the moral of the story is there will always be seconds and someone will always purchase them.

Is anyone else noticing eBay sellers now selling 5 or more solids at one time?? What's up with that?

How can EL tell us they have stoppped selling solids and powder compacts at the warehouse sales when clearly they have not.

    Lisa,
Perhaps we could file a petition concerning the overflow of “seconds” Estee Lauder Solid Perfumes hitting the consumers market. After all your website is a fairly large
community of perfume solid collectors and it shouldn't be hard to get several hundred persons interested. Just a thought, do they E.L. also have seconds on perfume in bottles, I sure could use a discount!

Looks as though the GD solids have hit the warehouse sales. Glad I waited to get these!

Also seems to be a run on Lucky coin solids.

There must be a TON of the Erte powder compacts being dumped by EL…there is a seller on Ebay offering “lots of 10” of certain series for $150 – empty of course. I am definitely changing my buying habits. ALL the SA's I am speaking with are saying sales of EL solids/compacts in general are way down. One SA I know if actually leaving the line to go to one more active. When will EL figure this out???

I don't know why EL doesn't cut out the middle man ( retail stores) and send their products straight to the warehouse sales( instead of a two week delay).

The makeup I spend $65 retail for you can buy on Ebay for 1.99.
The lipstick retail $15 , ebay .99. ect, ect.

Powder compact even though empty a refill is only 7.50 and you have a perfect $95 compact for 19.99.

Perfume solids– don't even get me started.

My poor SA has already been informed I will no longer buy compacts from her.

She doesn't understand why this stuff is on ebay when she can't get them in the store for her customers.

Mrs. Lauder must be rolling in her grave. This was not what she intended EL to be about.

I too made a point of telling the SA at the EL counter at Nordstorm's that I have a real hard time buying products at full retail from her when they show up at a fraction of the price on ebay.

I am fed up as well and the poor SAs are caught in the middle.
