At the Estee Lauder Compact Exhibit at Neiman Marcus, they had two spring solids on display….the Fluttering Hummingbird (pleasures) and the Glorious Peacock (beautiful). The peacock is large and quite pretty, with its tail fanned up and blue stones on the feathers. The hummingbird is colorful and is “fluttering” over two gold colored flowers. Here are the pictures of Neiman's 2006 Spring solids. I had a hard time photographing them because they were behind glass. I could only get them from one side as the other side gave too much glare. Here's the photo from the flyer as well.
So, what do you think?

The Spring solids were in the Exhibit display and there were other people taking pictures, so no problem there. The two ladies I asked about the price of the Spring solids just didn't know. Maybe they didn't have the details yet. They were carrying around pillows with solids that were for sale, and they had all the details on those. So maybe they weren't given much information on the Peacock or Hummingbird, other than the release date…January 2006.

Catherine – Your pictures are wonderful.
And, both of these new solid are very exciting. Looks like changes in the design elements at Estee Lauder (less boring solids).
Love em both.
I'm so glad we have warning that our pocketbooks and/or credit cards will get ligher/higher.

The hummingbird is exquisite! The peacock is a huge disappointment.
It looks like a turkey with peacock feathers. Hmmmmmm…I'm bummed

My feelings about the solids are opposite of yours. I love the peacock, but am so-so on the hummingbird. I think the flowers should be red. Hummingbirds are attracted to red flowers. Wouldn't they have been beautiful if they were covered in red stones? Or at least had a few red sparkles on them? I'm not wild about all the gold tone on the flowers and the stalk…just my personal opinion. <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />

Once again thanks for the great photos and information on the new spring solids.
Hmmmm………what to say…. my first opinion was- actually KK said it for me perfectly- the peacock looks like a turkey- that was my first thought too! <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ /> and what the heck, didn't we just get a peacock last year? <img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ />
As far as the hummingbird (in my opinion) looks unfinished, shouldn't the beautiful flowers be enameled or set with crystals too? Glad you agree with me too Catherine. OK and while I am at it, didn't we also get a hummingbird last year?? <img src='style_emoticons//huh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’huh.gif’ />

I ALSO AGREE THAT E.L. IS REPEATING PREVIOUS DESIGNS AND THE 2 NOW BEING OFFERED IN 2006 WERE DONE IN 2004[ A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY} I ALSO COLLECT CARVINGS [ IVORY AND SEMI-PRECIOUS} AND I HAVE DARLING MICE AND A KANGAROO WHICH E.L. I like the hummingbird a lot. The bird itself has pretty colors and bling. The flowers look too bland. It needed at least a few sparkles in the center and/or colored enamelling.
