Neimans in Orlando has the new 2005 solids on the counter. IMHO I think they are nice but the dragon is over priced by $100. The Parasol and both Lanterns are my favorites. If all were limited to a KNOWN number produced like the Harrods pieces that would be great. The big question now is how soon will they be in the warehouse sale.

Hi Ron. There's a lot of overprices ones lately . . . <!–emo&<_<img src='style_emoticons//dry.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’dry.gif’ />
I'll give them 6 months . . . . <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />
Would like to see some members pics of the NM ones to get a different perspective if I may . . . .anyone?
I am getting calls like crazy from EL reps about the new solids. I don't think any of them believe me when I tell them I am not getting any of them this year. <img src='style_emoticons//huh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’huh.gif’ />
Have seen the new solids and am holding back from purchasing right now.
I did intend purchasing the Dragon which would go beautifully with the Pagoda but………at $350, think it is way overpriced!
The Parasol is pretty but the previous Parasol from E.L has much more detail. If I remember correctly, I thought this one was over priced too!!!!!!!
The Elephant I quite liked and also the Gold Lantern.
I really feel I may well pass on all for the time being and catch them later when the prices are a little more realistic.
If these would have been limited and numbered, I would definitely have purchased. But to pay over $300 for a mass produced item…….forget it!
I did ask the Rep if they were limited and was told yes……..they had only received ten pieces! LOL

Here are the pictures of my new solids. This is my first time uploading and posting pictures, so I hope I did it right.
Catherine
Catherine,
Those are great photos thanks for sharing with us! <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />Thanks Catherine!! Excellent shots. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />
Catherine,
Your photos are beautiful! <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />Ron, I really like the parasol and the lanterns, but I'm holding off because I know the CCS will have them. They get all the NM ones for a lot le$$ <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />
Lisa, the NM sales reps have been calling here. I wonder what will happen now that we're not buying the new solids? <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />
Looking at the photos again there's not many sparklies so the price of enamel must have gone up <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//huh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’huh.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />
Great photos! I did buy the Niemans solids and I do like them…but I just can't bring myself to buy the Strongwater pieces. I will wait for the Canadian sellers to start selling them on Ebay if I buy any of them. The prices of the Strongwater pieces from a few years ago are being sold at about 1/2 price today if anyone saw the new listings recently.
Oh Canada, my Canada, what would we average income collectors do without our friendly Canadians who mysteriously manage to sweep up gorgeous solids from nowhere. Oh how grateful we are to EL for overproducing their solids so that with just a bit of patience we can buy them for less. <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ /> <img src='style_emoticons//tongue.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’tongue.gif’ />
Karin
Karin, I am with you there! If the solids are being sold at such high prices and we can purchase for lower later, then why not! Meanwhile, if E.L were to produce less and limit the numbers, we would buy high and the solids would maintain their value and even go up!
So it's swings and roundabouts…….over to E.L!

First of all I would like to say that I think this years Neimans collection is the best in years. BUT I will not be purchasing any because of the overruns that EL has been doing the past few years.
Back at one of the IPBA conventions, around 2002 or 2003 I spoke to one of the EL VP's a Mr. A—-e. This was when EL produced a huge X-Mass collection.
I mentioned that while I did not know much about big business and marketing I thought it would be a good idea if EL came up a few excellent solids and made only a very limited number say 500-800 of each, LETTING the number produced be public knowledge, and then destroy the mold so they could not do another run. Then put on a large public relations blitz and cause a feeding frenzy and have them sold out by X-Mass.
I think Harrods has the right idea to make a limited number and put a card in the box saying that this is 1 of 300. You dont walk into Harrods and see any English Emblems or Thomas bears in the store.
Unfortunately as usual the collectors suggestions fall upon DEAF EARS.

I really like the dragon. Money is getting more tight around here because of BIG stuff coming up, so I probably won't buy any NM or Saks solids this year. I to will wait for lower prices. I'll just buy Harrods. Haven't quite decided on LV solids yet.
Cheaper prices will come if you are willing to wait a few months….
Those are lovely pictures, I like the dragon. Thanks for sharing!
