Picked up 4 out of the 5 Strongwater solids today and all I can say is WOW! they are so fantastic and absolutely perfect!! They are all fantastic and the details on each are incredible.

    Lily bouquet:
I didn't see the lily bouquet in person in Vegas and was suprised to see just how big it really is. Seeing the solid in the photocopy is deceiving because it looks so small. It is also a very weighty piece, very substantial. This one is my favorite, it really is a fantastic mix of sculpture, color and design.

    Pampered kitten:
Love this one. Great Victorian filigree work on the chair back, also fantastic detail on the kitten-he really looks furry with his three different colors of enamel and even has a pink nose. What an expression on his face- dreaming of mice I think. My favorite thing on this solid is the crystal work on the feet of the chair. I am not too crazy about where the hindge is located.

    Precious bird:
This solid is so very pretty, many many details in that every time you pick it up you see something different. I love the tiny sparkly crystal eyes in the birds and their little open beaks. I also really like the sweet little flower growing on the vine. Check out the enamel work on the under side of the bowl.

    Bird in bloom:
This one is my favorite…. hey, I already said that but look at this one. Love the greens and purples they really pop against the rich amber color. On this one I really love the small details on the sides and legs of the box. Also the crystals on the inside of the wings of the humming bird and the aurora borealis crystal in the flowers center.

(will be getting the tulip quartet soon)

All and all outstanding, Thanks Jay for another great year of solids! Martha C

    Lisa,

Enjoyed reading your critique of these solids very much. You did a beautiful job in describing the uniqueness of each piece.

    Thanks Martha,

I think the solids needed some really positive feedback from what happened previously.

They really are all fantastic and are deserving of praise for those of us who love them.

    Lisa,

I've started this message over several times trying to find the right words to compliment you on your photography. So, let me just say that this is some of the finest photogaphy I've ever seen. I don't think a professional photographer could have done any better. When I look at the flyer Sak's sent out of these solids, there is simply no comparison. Truly fabulous work, Lisa.

I agree with Martha. These are truly fantastic pictures. I didn't realize the lily bouquet had blue crystals around the base. Very pretty. I think I'm really going to like all of these when they get in. Mine are coming from Las Vegas so it will be mid-August before I get them. Glad to hear that they are arriving in great condition. After Michelle's experience I was a little worried!

My Jay Strongwater solids arrived today and they are BEAUTIFUL. I am so
pleased with all five of them. He really does great work and we should all be
happy that he is designing for estee lauder. My collection is looking extra good

Fantastic photo's, Lisa. My favorites are still the Kitty and the Hummingbird Box, but your photo's make me love them even more. Had to run downstairs to look at mine again…

Glad all yours (and everyone elses) arrived safe and sound! I do believe we're on the “2nd batch.” Much, much better….

    Wonderful photos Lisa!
Shows the Strongwaters perfectly. Personally can't resist any of his designs. I consider them the best of my collection. But am glad that Michele and Martha shared their problems so that I carefully looked each piece over and got ones that were perfect.
Agree with you on the kitten on the chair and the hinge placementt but after considering it careful don't know where else it could be located. If it were at the back of the coushin the kitten would hit the chair back and if it were on the chair back it would probably mess up the placing of the beautiful crystals at the top of the chair legs. Guess that is why Jay is the designer and I am just the buyer of his beautiful objects.

    Hi Lisa, <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />
Totally awesome photos!!!!!!!!!! No one could do a better job!!!!!!!!! Great descriptions too!

We had difficulty selecting a perfect set of the solids also, and still don't believe we got as nice a cat as you did. The eyes are overpainted on most of them.

    All in all though, these are the prettiest Strongwater's to date.<img src='style_emoticons//wub.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wub.gif’ />

Lisa your photos are fantastic! Bravo to the photographer. Great color, angle and lighting. You have captured all the detail of each of the solids. Estee Lauder would be lucky to have you photographing their solids for them.

I received the Tulip Quartet, Precious Bird and The Pampered Kitty in the mail Wednesday. They all arrived in one piece. Thank goodness.
The Tulip Quartet is beautiful, a definite keeper. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> Each tulip has a round yellow crystal inside the the flower and little red crystals on the outside petals.

The Pampered Kitty is lovely. especially with all its teal blue crystals. Unfornately there was a problem with the chair. At first everything looked all right. But then I noticed one of the front legs on the chair wasn't touching the table top. If you touched the seat of the chair it would rock back and forth. I contacted my SA to see about exchanging the solid for another one. She said they were all like that. I was a bit surprised by her response. I have decide to return the solid to SAKS. <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />

    Lisa,

Your pictures are truely beautiful, I was in two minds about getting any of the Strongwaters but your photos have convinced me that I need to add the pampered kitty and the hummingbird to my collection. Now I just have to work out how to pay for them <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />

The pictures are amazingly clear and I am really champing at the bit to see these solids! I doubt they will be in the U.K. as yet! Jay Strongwater has wonderful items on display downstairs in the Egyptian Room at Harrods. Unfortunately, none of the Solid Perfumes. Would like to thank the gentleman again for signing my pieces…..

Thanks for the beautiful photographs Lisa. Am wondering how one takes a picture with the background like that. Remember, I only have a small digital camera (Vivicam) . Any ideas will be welcomed! Have not taken any more pix since I experimented with the DragonFly. Such hard work!!!!!!!!! <img src='style_emoticons//huh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’huh.gif’ /> Took me ages!

Think I will be opting for the Vase of Lillies!

    Hi All –

Looks like everyone is in agreement as far as the Kitty and the Hummingbird Box! Definitely 2 “keepers.”

Barb – My Chair sits perfectly on all 4 legs…no wobbling. Perhaps your SA's counter is crooked? <img src='style_emoticons//huh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’huh.gif’ /> Don't give up on it. Please try for another…it's just so perfectly “Strongwater.” (Along with the Hummingbird Box!)

Dante – You have excellent taste, as I knew you did. How to pay for them? Very slowly….possibly give up a mortgage/rent/car payment or groceries for a month like some of us do? <img src='style_emoticons//laugh.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’laugh.gif’ /> Just decide which you really love the most, realize that it will be another year before he comes out with another collection, and pick up even one at a time. It's definitely worth it, as all good things take time. “Instant Gratification” isn't always the best path to follow. Do what works for you. <img src='style_emoticons//smile.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’smile.gif’ />

Phyllis – I also questioned the placement of the hinges and came to the same conclusions you did. He really had no choice…and it's done very well considering where he had to work it in. After looking at it so many times, I no longer even see the hinge…just the beautiful chair, cushion and kitty. <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />

    <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> Thanks everyone! <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ />

I really don't have any special setup- just a shoe box, black velvet blouse and camera on tripod. I do shoot during the day in front of a large bay window without the flash. That's about all the tips I can offer.

Will shoot the boot and tulips as soon as they arrive, hopefully sometime next week.
