I just needed to post here to vent to make me feel better. I just had my first bad experience with ebay.

11 weeks after I paid and I never received the item and the seller will not refund my $$. She always has excuses (she has said “I will refund as soon as I sell another item,” or my favorite is when she said her hand went numb and she could not type the info in paypal to refund me…) She strung me along with these excuses long enough that it is now too late to file a claim through paypal. And to make matters worse she left me retaliatory negative feedback – ruined my 100% record.

I guess you live and learn. I feel better now. Just needed to vent. I am glad to know that this site exsists so we can sell and purchase items with honest people. Thanks for listening!!

Lori, so sorry to hear of your sad/bad experience on Ebay. I've had a few bad experiences there myself. Live and learn is all any of us can do. I just wanted you to know you're not alone. I guess it's hapened to a lot of us here. I've never had a bad experience buying from this site. OUR people are GREAT! Next time you want to acquire something ask here first. Everyone is very helpful here and will assist you in any way they can.

    Take care, be careful! Katita

    Lori,
Better luck next time or as Katita suggested, just buy from sellers on this website.
It is alot safer and more pleasant experience.

Yeah – bummer, Lori!! The lesson learnt here is not to be so sympathetic with their 'excuses'. Just demand refunds immediately (as they demand payment immediately) and give them a sob story of your own! (made up or not!). Play them at their own game – that's the only way some people get the message!

Unfortunately as anti-discriminatory and 'professional' as Ebay might be or seem, there are so many unbelieveable 'sellers' out there who's attitudes are so bad that they would NEVER make it in 'the real world' of business. However, Ebay allows them to make money by 'sucking people in' and selling crappy things and not allowing refunds!! Where else in the world would this happen and people still be in business by bad business practises?

    NOWHERE!!

Ebay can remove the strike or neg. feedback for you Lori AND give you a refund of up to $175.00 – just send them the sellers bogus emails.

GOOD LUCK!! (and don't take anymore b/s off anyone on Ebay!)

I just had to add my bit too. I have bought many items off ebay, but only until last month did I have a problem. My seller deregistered themselves within hours of me paying. So it meant I cannot leave any feedback on them!

I reported them immediately to ebay, they say they can do nothing, because the seller isnt replying to their emails! WHAT!

Four weeks later still nothing so i reported them to an Agency of the FBI, and sent the seller an email saying that the FBI had their contact details. Got an immediate reply saying they had sent my goods. Two weeks later the goods arrived, absolute rubbish items and not as described (nothing like it really) but cant do anything.

Harass your seller more, tell them you have reported them to this site:

    http://www.ifccfbi.gov/

which is an internet fraud site. So at least they will have some sleepless nights!

But there are some very good sellers out there too!

Gee Carolyn – that's rough!! I hope you didn't lose too much money! Were Ebay and/or Paypal able to reimburse you anything? <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ />

Yeah – I often wonder too how those types of people can sleep at night!

There would be nothing worse than always having to look over your shoulder to make sure no-one is after you! <img src='style_emoticons//ph34r.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ph34r.gif’ />

Hopefully there are many more wonderful experiences than bad ones! <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />

My Ebay beef is that some sellers (the ones who will never make it in the 'real' world) use the most expensive type of shipping because it's YOUR money they are using . . . . and make you pay for over the top packaging . . . . etc. I don't mind it when things are packaged well, but I'm talking about unnecessary really OVER THE TOP packaging that you have to pay extra for + the extra shipping cost because it's now heavier than it would normally be. Then they say that they ONLY ship registered and by the most expensive shipping company . . . . and if you don't pay you'll get bad feedback! <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ />

    Sandra,
My favourite is when the sellers who have charged you a multitude for shipping forget that on their way to the post office and send it “Economy”. One seller explained that it was because his wife went to the post office that day. It's really strange how forgetful people can be, especially when it serves their own purposes <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />

    Hi Sandra
That is exactly what happened! <img src='style_emoticons//sad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’sad.gif’ /> I had to pay a very large amount in shipping costs, this means the seller avoids having to pay ebay fees. Then, they would only accept payment by cash payment, I just knew it was going to go wrong! So I wasnt protected by ebay because firstly the postage is never reimbursed, and second I wasnt able to use PayPal. I didnt want to risk a negative feedback, so what to do!

I think I have bought maybe 20 items over ebay and this is the first wrong one, and I have got some great bargains so guess you just take the good with the bad.

I had received an email from ebay before I had paid for this item, because another item very similar to the one I had won, was withdrawn. So I checked with ebay to make sure that this item was genuine before I paid. They said the transaction was fine! So I paid.

Them they acted all dumb when I lodged a complaint, and offered me such pearls of advice like “try and email the seller. Often these disputes can be resolved” – as if I hadnt tried that first! I sent that ebay person a little rocket email for treating me like an idiot <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />

Thanks for the suggestions! Regarding feedback, it is a great system, however I am sure a lot of people don't leave negative feedback when it is deserved for fear of retaliatory negative feedback. I almost did not leave the negative feedback for this person because I knew this would happen, but decided it was worth it. Sandra, I will try what you suggested and try to get it removed.

Yeah – go for it Lori!! Honesty should prevail and I'm surprised that they left you neg. feedback when THEY were in the wrong!! Fortunately, I have had no neg. feedback even after posting neg. feedback for the seller or buyer!! This is because they KNOW they have done the wrong thing!

The audacity of someone giving you a neg. feedback for nothing is incredible!! Get it removed immediately!! The problem is, that even if Ebay remove it, the comment stays. However, you are able to respond to the comment, so make sure you do that too!

Karin and Carolyn – glad there are some people out there who know what I am talking about!! Sometimes if the postage is so far out of whack (like double!), I email the seller when I get the item and get them to do a partial refund before I leave feedback for them. I usually get the refund and apology because they know that they have tried it on. It's just so unfair sometimes when you live outside the country you are buying from because there is not much you can do about postage and you don't know the different methods of shipping in each country.

Carolyn – a strange dilemma – but one that is used often . . . I sent a large amount of money away too, in hope of getting my stuff. There's not much you can do when it goes all wrong. Luckily I did get my stuff, but I spent a few weeks sweating on it! Nowadays, I try to only bid on things that you can use Paypal with for safety reasons. And if someone has even one negative, then I read their feedback very carefully these days. Too many idiots out there who think you are one too!

Well, GOOD LUCK to all in the future with Ebay transactions . . . . let's all keep our fingers crossed and try not to be SUCKED IN by anyone. Always remember, there's always another one going to come up someday! (with hopefully a better seller!)

Don't worry about neg. feedback if you are in the right. Just say it how it is to help other people and to stop people buying from the seller. Used controlled anger in these situations and resonably DEMAND that the seller do the right thing by you. Don't fall into the “you win some, you lose some” trap. You should always 'win' if you have done everything right.

You would think that Ebay should do everything to preserve it's worth in this day and age by stopping “shonksters”! (Don, I know you love this word!)

    Hi,
Will you please post the ebay sellers name so we won't get cheated. People like that deserved to be banned permanently. <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ />
I'm so sorry for your misery.

Hi KK – The item I had purchased was for an OOAK collectible baby doll, not for solid perfume so I think you are safe in not purchasing from this person.

I was pregnant when I purchased the baby doll (my first child) back in April. I wanted to purchase the little baby doll to display in her nursery. My little girl arrived in May (although I am bias, she is perfect <img src='style_emoticons//wub.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wub.gif’ /> ). I am enjoying every minute of time I am with her – she is growing so fast!

If anyone purchases these items and wants to know the seller, just email me and I will give you the seller's name. This person has other 2 other negative feedbacks with people that have had similar situations as me, so any buyer can see this as well.

Congrats on your little baby girl, Lori! <img src='style_emoticons//biggrin.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’biggrin.gif’ /> I am SURE she is the cutest thing and I am SURE you realise there are more important things in life (like her!) other than idiots on Ebay who upset you! <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ />

You are WAY in front of the shonks on Ebay with the rich things in life – you have something NO amount of money can replace, so cheers to you and chin up – money can always be replaced, but we just hope that the greed that makes the seller rip people off will come back on themselves ten-fold so that they realise the error of their ways.

    Good luck on future Ebay transactions. <img src='style_emoticons//wink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’wink.gif’ />
