Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the good advice. I’ll try my best to sort it out. I’m in a dilema with this seller, she is always so polite and friendly (as Brigette has found out too, she was kind enough to call her for me)in her emails, keeps saying sorry and didn’t know how it happens so on and so forth. It almost makes me feel as if I were the bad one! Well! I’m going to try and make a case with the post office on Monday as suggested by Brigette and see what happen. The seller only insured the parcel for 500 euro but I paid her $693 for the 3 solids. So doesn’t look too good. Anyway, I’ll let you all know how this story ends, might take a while though. [Frown]

KK, about buying EL solids in Hong Kong. Every year about the beginning of November, EL do a exhibition in one of the larger department stores to promote their solids for the season. They always invite the local press/magazine editors etc to the show for a bit of free marketing. The store also would invite their VIP members to attend. They always do very well with their sales from a lot of impulsive buyers. The EL counter girls of course would also call up their “collector” clients to pre-order these solids. This year I must have bought more than 10 cause there were a lot of solids on offer (close to 30). I think some of solids that are returned from EL counters in US are shipped over to places like Hong Kong for sale the following year. For e.g. I could get the King Charles Spaniel ($65), both Fairy & Enchanted fairy ($100), the zebra ($103), Circus clown ($175), piroutte ($175)etc. We also get the current solids like circus lion ($400), metador($230)etc etc. I’ve noticed that in some of the solids their year stamp appears to be ‘detachable’ not like the older ones. I really think EL should seriously consider taking pre-orders from collectors for better cost control instead of producing unwanted solids blindly. That way they won’t have to increase their prices so much. The prices must have doubled over the last 3-4 years but I’m sure they haven’t increase their staff’s salary by that much.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to 2003’s new solids. Cheerio. [Smile]
