Hi KK:

I DEFINITELY don't think that you are making a mountain out of a molehill. That is a valid concern and I would assume that the dealer would take safeguard measures to ensure that the sellers with whom they are dealing are reputable. But…with ebay..one never knows. <!–emo&<_<img src='style_emoticons//dry.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’dry.gif’ />

FYI..in the Steiff collectibles on ebay, a Canadian seller has changed his ID soo many times and scammed thousands…and I means like 10s of thousands of dollars in Steiff sales from buyers on ebay. He's not been caught because he's in Canada and the buyers are in the US and its impossible to recover losses. <img src='style_emoticons//mad.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’mad.gif’ /> A few Steiff collectors were able to get money back but had to outsmart this guy. And where is ebay in all of this???????? Well..obviously their stand is buyer beware and to use paypal. Also the kicker to all of this is that the seller has positive feedback because he builds up positive feedback selling minor stuff on ebay under each new name and then runs the megaroo scam, changes his ID and starts all over again, He now even has others selling for him. <img src='style_emoticons//blink.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’blink.gif’ /> It's really out of control and all we in the Steiff community can do is track him and his new IDs the best we can based on the items listed and the asking price. Then we contact one another via email and share the IDs that way. <img src='style_emoticons//ph34r.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ph34r.gif’ />
So…yes, KK…your concerns are VERY warranted. <img src='style_emoticons//ohmy.gif’ border=’0′ style=’vertical-align:middle’ alt=’ohmy.gif’ />
